All are MA (Movies Anywhere) compliant to port to your preferred video marketplace. Free Solo is gripping; you will not be able to look away for the last 15min of the film except to dry your own hands and drink some water. Not a fan of sensationalizing daredevils (many have undoubtedly died in his footsteps), but Alex Honnold is an incredible athlete. It is a miracle he is still alive. First learned about him from Reel Rock videos and his 60 Minutes profile almost 10 years ago.

To my disappointment, Free Solo is not the same as Solo for free.
I followed this when it was in the making. Regarding the movie, his GF really got on my nerves with her being the negative influence. She knew his deal when she got together with him only for her to try to sway him away from doing it. At first she was fine with his climbing but right there towards the end she had her own interests on the forefront. She should have been more like his mom. LOL
Free Solo is worth a watch. The story of one young man's mother and girlfriend as they come to grips with his insane obsession.

It also has a lot about the guy himself. Wink

Really intriguing story. But please note that it doesn't represent 99.9% of climbers.

The Art of Racing In The Rain is really a man and his dog movie. Not perfect, but has some nice moments. Nice, sweeping cinematography that looks good in 4K quality.

Free Solo is amazing, and it was $5 on FandangoNow, so should work with the free $6 rental credit with purchase using Mastercard.

For those with Disney+, Free Solo is there, although might not be 4K version.

She was/is definitely annoying. This is the most chauvinistic thing to say and I hesitate to stick my nose in another man's business, but I have no doubt he could do better. Good luck to the love birds. Last I cared to check, they were still together.

Soloing doesn't represent most of us, but the obsession in general is how most climbers are.

I think the movie really needed some kind of antagonist. I mean, El Cap is intimidating, but inanimate. Interpersonal relationships help the drama, especially for a wider audience.

I would have been content seeing more about the film crew and all the rigging they had to do, all for Alex to just take off randomly one morning without any real notice.

Well said. And it shows a little bit of the "Camp 4 Climbing Dirtbag" lifestyle, probably the best emblem of the obsession.
