Interested to hear opinions on this deal. I'd like to get a few plants. Doesn't Costco sell these for $14.99 at some point last summer?

Do these shed the flowers at some point and make a mess? Don't want it all in the pool

They can be messy if not maintained and are seasonal too

Just bought two 1 gallon hydrangeas yesterday at Home Depot for $10 each, Nikko Blue variety for reference.

I disagree. Maybe it's my zone 4 area, and in warmer zones these plants drop leaves and petals, but every Hydrangea I've ever owned (including this exact brand) has kept their leaves and petals pretty well.
In fact I often leave the flower blooms even after they've died back for the year for "winter interest" as they say. And even doing this the leaves and petals don't easily drop.

That would explain it, I'm in 10A. They look great most of the time but they need water and came make a mess if they dry out.

Costco sells generic hydrangeas but they normally squeeze 3-4 plants into one pot to make it look more bushy so if you want to plant them in ground you could separate them, you have 3 plants. Plant them in a shady place, only morning sun.

Endless summer variety is generally more expensive, I believe this very one gallon in-store normally goes for 12.95 or something.

If you're gonna plant in ground getting a smaller pot is better.

Would these survive indoors assuming 5 hours of sun a day?

They would pretty good inside. But make sure when put it near a window, rotate it so all the leaves get sun. If it doesn't get enough sun, it may not flower, also use some slow release fertilizer such as osmocote or organic fertilizer. They like 70-80 F temperature.

So is this particular deal slick? Very curious as I'm thinking of pulling trigger. Thanks!

I have no idea if you can order plants online from HD, never needed to since I have one nearby.

The item number is 758333816040 if that is helpful
