Obviously numbers don't always tell the full story, but upon reading a bunch of reviews I ended up with Micca M-8C, for my in-ceiling. They are pretty much always available on Prime for right around $40 each all the time.

On paper they handle twice as much power, are more sensitive (90db vs 88db), have a 1" tweeter vs Jamo's 1/2".

I have two pairs, one as a rears and one as overhead atmos. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Been using them for well over a year.

Sound profile is the subjective part, so I can't speak to the differences there.

The idea that these Jamo's would sell for 100 each is pretty absurd.
Was in the market for in-ceiling Atmos speakers last month and after a lot of research, went with the Monoprice Caliber In-Ceiling Speakers 8 inch size. Both the woofer and the tweeter is angled and been enjoying them in my 5.2.4 setup. Price has gone up recently though. I paid less than 80 bucks, now they are over hundred.

Glad to hear you like em! I just ordered 2 pairs. A pair for surrounds in my TV room and a pair for my home gym. Just need to find a basic receiver now for the gym with HMDI arc to use my Roku TV as the source just for the 2 speakers.

The link to the 8" speakers do not seem to work. Navigating to the 8" shows the regular price, I'm guessing there might need to be a special link?

they're technically aren't different - coaxial speaker, they have different ohm loads though, most automotive is 4ohm while home is 8 ohm standard. . If comparing to another 8inch coax the power handling for this is somewhat low. 25rms /50

still a good deal though for in ceiling speakers, great for atmos.

Yes I doubt anyone would pay $100 each, even at these prices it's a stretch.

It get people have outlandish opinions sometimes but you get what you pay for here.

Even their own description tells you these are "Contractor Series" speakers.

If all you looking for is sound coming from the location and or on a very tight budget maybe but I wouldn't expect more than this price point.

I use a couple pairs of the 6.5" for Atmos ceiling channels in my 5.2.4 setup and am happy with them. Would make fine surrounds or rear surrounds, but wouldn't use them for LCR. Paid about this price when Frys was still around (too soon?).

I have some Pioneer 6" coaxials that claim 1.25x the power than my Hertz Mille Legends and also a higher sensitivity. The Pioneers are $100 a pair and my Hertz were $700 a pair. Guess which one sounds better?

Point is, numbers don't tell the whole tale. Sensitivity and power are great metrics for telling how loud I can make my speakers, but that isn't the goal, especially for overhead speakers intended for atmos heigh effects that are only very subtly used. It doesn't tell us at all how much you can push then before you start introducing distortion. It doesn't tell us about the clarity or the quality. That's assuming the specs listed are even accurate in the first place and not a complete lie. I didn't see any information about cone or magnet material which normally would give us some indication of how quality these speakers are.

Point I'm trying to make is speakers are generally a get what you pay for scenario if you're not buying Bose. Jamo is a reputable brand and it's worth the expense if you have the ears for it. Specs are never the whole story.
