I don't think this is the 3D NAND version, is it? If you have a .edu email, you can get that version from WD for $105 after the discount.

See edits below.
However technically wd.com has a 1-2 week delay on that item, and has had issues lately with fulfillment, order cancels (or non-communication), and major headaches. laugh out loud

edit: I see reviews/q&a on BB with mixed opinions of people getting the 3d nand or not

edit #2: bhphotovideo has the same model # and titles it 3D NAND. You could always return it to BB if not. Or PM to bh (as long as this doesn't sell out before you have the chance during business hours).

edit #3: yes, per FrozenBeer below. Reps to you, thx.

The Amazon 3D Nand has a different WD part number WDS100T2B0A for 109, but it states specifically 3D Nand.

Hate when they make this crap so confusing

they're identical designs, but this one is made in china, and the amazon is made in malaysia.

This BB version might be a lot slower in 4k low queue depth speeds than the amazon version.

I'm ordering this to test, and if the crystaldiskmark 4k speed is significantly less than 40MB/s read, 100MB/s write, I'm returning it to BB.

the box actually says 3d nand on it.

Yeah if you care for faster start ups and load times.

Needed a 2nd HDD for my new PC, I'll go with the 1TB WD. I was going to get the 500GB yesterday, but for $35 more I'll get this.

Does WD have SSD migration software like Crucial and Samsung?

EDIT - there is, Acronis makes a backup software specifically for WD drives (free) [wdc.com] but obviously I don't have experience with it. I believe Cruicial also uses Acronis. Samsung makes their own (Magician) and I've used it several times, works very well.

Good comparison here if you want to pay extra $15 for Crucial:

I know this is a decent SSD, but why pay for this when there's 1Tb NVME M.2 drives also at this price? Unless Mobo doesn't support m.2 of course.
