Real curious here. Nearly every single one is overwhelming thumbs downed.

Pretty reasonable.

Almost all masks are made in China, even the really good ones. The difficulty is sifting through the crap flooding the market. For one, raw materials have skyrocketed. I'd be wary of masks suddenly being made in the US with a low cost (normal cost you'd see from a chinese made mask). It's extremely expensive and inefficient to manufacturer in the US along with new factories not having a track record to go off of.

Economics 101 @ 50/$9.99. In the last 3-4 months, supply cannot keep up with demand. Almost every step of the process from raw material to making its way to your house has added costs:

1) Raw materials have skyrocketed. One manufacturer said their raw materials alone have gone up 300%
2) Customs and Shipping have become a nightmare. Customs clearances that normally would take a day or two, are now about a week or two. US distributors are tacking on additional costs from their investments on trying to get product state-side.
3) From there, these legitimate products are given priority to frontline workers. Meaning if you're getting it from another source or your store is getting it from another source, it's also likely that they're being charged more as well.
4) Also, it's highly likely that if you're getting legitimate masks as a consumer, there's been some level of corruption somewhere LMAO

I posted a writeup of my experiences and what i've found while trying to get my hands on quality products:

It's most likely that masks posted are copies of masks or masks just stamped with 'KN95' without actually performing at that level.

A lot of people downvoting any mask because they have some incapacity to understand ANY protection is better than NO protection. They have been programmed to think n95 masks are some sort of guarantee.
Any mask is better than no mask.
Try multiple masks - a comfortable mask is more likely to be worn.
Help people you know obtain masks if they have trouble getting them

The only way to win this battle is to fight on all fronts with the best resources we have at our disposal. Maybe in 6 months 3M masks will be something everyday Joe can buy at any time, but right now just getting cheap masks to people who need and should wear them is not happening.

Those using bad science to steer people away from protecting themselves are scum.
