Best Buy has Mint Mobile's 12GB/mo annual prepaid kit for $240, effectively $20/mo, same price as the 8GB plan normally. Regular price for the 12GB plan from Mint is $300/year. (Ignore the product description which says 10GB/mo - this was the old cap, it was raised to 12GB/mo a while back.)

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/mint...Id=6022206

Unlimited calling/text. Data is throttled to 2G speeds after you reach the 12GB cap in a month.

You CANNOT use this to renew an existing plan. You can of course start a new plan with a new number.

You must activate within 45 days of purchase.

Mint Mobile runs on the T-Mobile networks and supports the usual features like wi-fi calling. You need an unlocked phone that works on the T-Mobile network. Reports indicate phones locked to T-Mobile will also work.

Taxes: Best Buy will collect any applicable sales tax just like any other item, but since this is prepaid you won't need to pay the usual taxes/fees to the provider.

I'm a current customer too, and speed and signal are pretty good for me, I just it just depends on where you live.
All these posts about signal and quality are pointless

If you get good T-Mobile service where you live it's the same on mint.
Not necessarily.

Coverage: Mint does not have access to roaming on AT&T, US Cellular or any other T-Mobile roaming partner. Native coverage on the T-Mobile network should be the same though.

"Quality": Mint is an MVNO, meaning they are the first to be deprioritized. So if T-Mobile is seeing a lot of traffic, Mint customers will be the first ones to see a significant drop in their speeds

These deals are missing out on the Amex $20/month reimbursement opportunity.

Pretty good deal. I'm on redpocket now 3 gigabyte $20 plan. Been wanting to do some podcast streaming.
I guess it's time go on to the ATT unlock portal a dozen times, and try and get my Z2 Force unlocked? Hopefully that's still an option.

That's only on the Platinum cards (and not Delta Platinum); Amex Green gets $10/mo. That's a tiny sliver of those reading this thread.

as a current customer I can tell the signal and speed are bad. I will switch to Att network after that
I can confirm that as well, but I have found that it largely depends on what part of the city you are in. I get the worst signal at my phone, but the moment I leave my home, it jumps to 4 bars. Download speed at best, is just OK.

Sucks you can't tack this onto your current plan as a renewal down range..

This varies a huge amount by your area (even house to house) and what phone you have (and what bands it has). My experience is that generally T-Mobile has good coverage (still not quite as good as Verizon and AT&T, but it's gotten way better over the past several years) and excellent speeds. Like any MVNO, Mint can be de-prioritized, but I haven't noticed it and it's not a deal-breaker at this price.

Get a phone that support wifi calling. Mint supports wifi calling.
