Unless you spend 30-60 mins a day outdoors everyday in the sun, you should take at least 2 of these a day. I actually take a D3 with K2 5000 I/u a day.

Why you gettin downvoted? I agree most people should supplement D, esp these days. BTW, most people most places can't synthesize D from the sun 6 months out of the year

A recent video and article said they had found a correlation between low vitamin D and high mortality rates due to Covid-19 in deaths overseas. He said while they normally recommend 700iu as the recommended daily allowance he saw no reason not to take between 1000iu to 2000iu a day during this period. He didn't say anything about needing higher.

With such high levels there is always the risk of Vitamin D toxicity in SOME people. ( https://www.healthline.com/nutrit...de-effects ) so as a general rule don't take higher than 2000iu unless you consult your physician and he and you should be the final say. NOt us strangers on slickdeals.

Just wondering how does Nature Made compare to 'Now' brand?
Amazon has the same potency 120 caps D-3 at $5.47
For that matter, anyone know how Costco Kirkland brand D-3 compares?
They sell same potency and 600 caps for $9.99 at my local warehouse.

A must have for winter. I only take 1000 I/U a day. Don't feel comfortable taking 500% of something.

governments and organizations are typically conservative when it comes to dosing (emphasizing safety [overdosing] and minimal sufficiency). vitamin D is tolerated very well (in terms of toxicity) and a healthy person has no problem metabolizing and regulating vitamin D levels from the sun/supplementation.

the best bet is to get blood tested (25-hydroxy) to assess your vitamin D levels. for someone who is severely deficient (<20ng/ml), it's gonna take more than a 2000iu dose (it takes ~1600iu to raise 15ng/ml). different health organizations have different numbers on what the optimal/sufficient level is (some say 40-80, 30-100, or anything over 30ng/ml, etc).

if you know your vitamin D levels are sufficient, ~1000 to 2000iu is a good maintenance dose. however, for someone who is deficient, i would recommend +5000iu (but no higher than 10k unless directed by a doctor). doctors often prescribe 50,000iu dose to treat vitamin D deficiency.

"tolerable upper intake set by Nutrition Board of Institute of Medicine is 4000iu"

I got that from a recent Joe Rogan podcast with Dr. Rhonda Patrick. The Vitamin D discussion goes on quite long but here's a 12-minute excerpt so those interested can draw their own conclusions:

Joe Rogan - Mind Blown by Vitamin D and COVID-19
[youtube.com]

Joe and the Dr. both take 5000iu daily by the way.
