MLCS 15 Piece Router Bit Set $36, free shipping $35.95

Was looking for a starter bit set after picking up the Hitachi / Metabo router deal from Lowes and saw this commonly mentioned set was on sale with free shipping. Amazon has the same 1/2" shank set for $45 right now.

I'm a newbie so others hopefully can add more insight / info. The advice I read about is to buy a starter set to figure out which bits are personally used and buy high quality (and expensive) replacements later.

I think this is the typical discounted price. I bought this set for the same price a few years ago. It has been working fine, though I've only used the 3/8 roundover and one of the straight bits.

The quality on these and the price are great, especially if you can use the 1/2 bits you won't find anything close in terms of value. I don't think the selection here is that great, but if you were just getting started or if a few of these would replace some of your worn bits definitely worth it. I usually use them for specialty bits since they have a larger selection than you'd find elsewhere and free shipping.

Thanks for sharing bud. Do you know if their larger sets are also on sale?

I started with this set a couple months ago and I am happy with it. Its good to have an array of straight bits for various rabbets. Whiteside is, afaik, the next better brand.

Just got a router to do a bunch of new doors in the house. Haven't had time to figure out which bits I need for that.....Would this set be useful for that purpose?

Is their roundover set at $30 a good deal? I need a good quality/value roundover set. Is there anything better for the price in a roundover set?
