She's also not really Palp's granddaughter, the way that Boba isn't really Jango's son. Rather, she's technically his clone niece, since his "son", her father, was his clone, which is basically an identical twin born decades later. And that nicely aligns with Ben/Kylo being Luke's nephew.

But, whatever, it's SW, which in its new incarnation means anything goes. SW the musical? Sure. SW intersects with DC or Marvel? Why not. Star Trek: Star Wars Edition? If the lawyers allow it and it makes money, hell yeah! Star Wars, the dessert topping/bug spray/hair gel? YES!
You can't just take someone else's name like that. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

But what really ticked me off is that they had the nerve to call this "The Rise of Skywalker" while literally killing off every ACTUAL Skywalker so they could replace them with a Palpatine.

Disney space movies re trash of the highest order.
The prequels are oscar worthy compared to Disneys junk.

What about the young adult version, written by a different author and supposedly better than this one (which I've read and which slightly expanded upon the movie)? Not sure that anything can really salvage a pretty bad movie that makes its predecessor, which I also didn't like, seem brilliant in comparison, but it's worth a shot. Most likely it'll be left to future SW movies, animated and live action series, books and comics to fix the "damage" that these two films did to SW, by muddling it all with extraneous nonsense, silly fan service and hack "subversion". This is what happens when a soulless corporation takes over a cultural phenomenon.

You're wrong. She's Reytarded.

(Love you Daisy Ridley but your character movie & trilogy were so poorly thought out)

As somebody who loves Star Wars, and didn't care for episodes XIII and IX... Kind of.

Because they did a terrible job explaining details in the movie. Why is this? How is that possible? What is actually going on? Who is this and why should I care?

There were a lot of interviews with JJ Abrams after the movie came out, where he explained parts of the movie that were not clear... And that's a pretty good sign, that they did a poor job of storytelling in the movie if it needs to be explained afterwards.

The book has the potential to redeem some of those qualities because it will get into the details the movie omitted.

I'm still not going to be completely happy with it. I believe it did a disservice to the original Trilogy and characters... But as a Star Wars fan, if it improves my outlook on the new movie, I'll begrudgingly take it.

Good luck with that (I actually mean that). I've given up at this point. Disney has killed Star Wars for me, not that George Lucas didn't start it with the prequel trilogy.
