RESOLVED - Deal Alerts - View Current Matches Error

329 220 May 19, 2020 at 08:45 PM
Hi,

So I have a bunch of deal alerts set and they seem to be working fine (just got an e-mail notification about one of them today).

-BUT-

when I go to the Deal Alerts management page (https://slickdeals.net/deal-alerts/) and I click on the "View Current Matches" next to any of them, I get the following error message:

"im2bz2p, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons"

It really doesn't matter which one I click to view results - they all seem to give me that same error message. The results links worked fine in the past, so I am not sure what changed on SD. I even have some generic ones like "Costco" which I know should return several results, but that doesn't even work.

I remember following this guide when I setup my Deal Alerts (https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=67718300&postcount=540), so I can't figure out what is going on.

Please help,

~ Im2bz2p Smilie

it sounds like you're using the classic version of the site, right?
what browser? do you have the same experience if you switch browsers?

hopefully the answers to these questions will help those in the know squash the bug Smilie

I am using the classic version of SD.

Using the latest version of Chrome. I also tried with Microsoft Edge, same story.

They used to work fine for me in Chrome. There must have been a recent change or something. Could I get someone to look into my specific Deal Alerts?

Perhaps a staff member who can access my account's deal alerts can see if they return results for him/her.

Nevermind. I resolved this on my own.

The issue was that I was right clicking on the "View Current Matches" to open then in a new tab, but it seems like SlickDeals performs a preliminary search using the url (https://slickdeals.net/forums/sddealalerts_ajax.php?do=search-dealalert ... ) then populates the results below the Deal Alert.

Screenshot of how I was initially trying to open the Deal Alert:

Screenshot of how I figured out the deal alert can be opened in a new window:

Hope this helps others in the future.
