This is about 35 dollars cheaper than the Home Depot deal from a week or two ago. Not the best price it's ever been (349, from my research), but it is good none-the-less.

The 735 is only really worth the upgrade if you do a large amount of planing, for a hobbyist or occasional planer the 734 is more than enough. But here's a few things the 735 has: beefier 4 post design for raising/lowering the motor/cutter which has more stability, beefier motor, chip blower (no need for a dust collector with the right setup), 2 speeds. I own the 735 but it mostly just takes up shop space since it's larger than most planers and if I hadn't gotten it cheap second hand it would be disappointed I didn't go with something smaller as a hobbyist--if plane a lot though, the 735 is the machine to get though.
I'm glad he did. I have an alert set up for a planer and got this one, but didn't get the master thread alert 😊
Disagree - I could care less about the vendor, and would never set a deal alert up for one. Deal alert based on the manufacturer / product, and wham, this one hit the email.

Seems like a solid deal. I think anything under $400 is good for this planer, but the lower the better. I am still waiting on mine to ship from Home Depot I ordered last week.

Do these require or benefit from some sort of stand?

I've been waiting for a good deal on the DW735, but this is a solid price on the DW734 so I'll finally bite.

I'm going to bite. I'm a starting carpenter/framer, but don't see myself using this that often. Mostly for diy and occasional jobsite use.

lunchbox planers are all the same. exact same manufacturing plan and parts. you can find a used rockwell, makita, grizzly or similar for less than half the price.

for almost $400 it is a much better use of money to get the 735 which has a ton more power. If you plan on putting anything other than pine through this box you'll be happy you spent the extra $$.
