Back in January they had this and a two pack of the 3ah batteries (and charger) for $99 (which I bit on), but I'm guessing that was a VERY rare deal.

Looks like this deal gets you a 4ah battery and charger for $30. Not a bad deal if you were planning to buy the saw at regular price.

On another note, this band saw is AWESOME. I've used it a lot more than I thought I would.

Is the direction of the blade offset from the body at all? As in if I had a 2by4 that I wanted to turn into lath strips could I squeeze that by or is there 0 gap?

Yes, the blade is offset and i think you could do that, although I'm not 100% sure I'm clear on what you want to do (depending on the strip width, I'd rather use a table saw).

The blade is twisted to a 45 degree angle to give the offset, allow clearance from the body as you cut.

Do I need a band saw? lol I know stupid question but I've been collecting Ryobi tools just for the random possibility of DIY at home when something comes up. Not concerned about the money as much as will I EVER use it? What are some possible home diy usages for this?

Tia!!

Terrible place (SD) for asking these type of questions, just buy and ask questions later.

lol I understand. But I was less concerned about the sale price and the folks above sounded like they know what they're talking about! This isn't a deal that I expect to instantly sell out either, but who knows.

I did some googling but some of the stuff I saw I feel can be done with other tools (e.g. I have an angle grinder/cut off wheel, jig saw, etc). Does this do the same stuff, only more accurately?

I'm jealous! I'd jump on this at 99 even with one battery, but 159 is just a bit too much in my eyes.
