I think I am not getting this correctly, where is the savings on this really?
Here goes what I understand:
- Pay for the device up front
- Give an eligible device
+ Get iphone SE
+ Get back the money you paid initially with bill credits
So, am I getting new iphone SE by giving my old phone?
You don't pay for the entire phone all upfront.
They are billing you a monthly fixed amount for the phone ($400 / 24 months) and minus a credit equal to the amount of your trade-in / 24 months)
However if you cancel your plan, you will owe the remainder of what's left to pay on the phone.
but to answer your question, yes you are getting an SE for the trade in amount if your phone is on the $400 list

If you trade in a Iphone 7 that's around $130 and getting a new SE that's worth $400, there's the savings right there.

Really depends on what phone you use for this promotion. iPhone 7 and above you get $400 apply to your SE which is exactly $399. ($400 + your trade in worth).

Anything less, you get $200 + your trade in value the difference will be spread 24 months on your future payment as EIP.

Hope I answer your question.

Why this is a deal? your phone might not worth $200 i.e. my Galaxy S7 edge. (which I paid $130 a year ago that came with a 128 Gig SD card. And your iPhone 7 def. not worth $400 if you try to sell it on eBay.

And you are getting 0% finance with EIP.

However, you do have to pay for the Tax $27 (in NJ) upfront. DE residents is tax Free.

I think I got that right.. if not feel free to correct.

I went in store to do a trade for my sons 7 and they didn't have it in stock so they had to order one. Now looking over the documents, I see no mention of "credit" or the "promo" anywhere. Should I see any mention of this? They wouldn't take my phone in for trade until I receive the phone. I get an uneasy feeling that they might have screwed it up.

If we pay full phone price at costco..do we get trade in value via card?
No, you don't. Costco guy (I know he knows what he's talking about as I've dealt with him few times in the last few years) clearly said that paying full at 360 will not be eligible for the trade in bonus.

Won't see it until trade in is processed/shipped in.

Typical tmobile mess.
Good plan but suck in execution.

A few people told they ran out of inventory so they need to "order" online.

Others had the trade process smooth while many got denied for lame reasons: "physical damage" for a light scratch, dirty buttons etc.

And those ppl have the same/similar phone condition.

Always something funny with tmobile
Same with everything else in life when human being involved in making decision. It depends on the guy who reviews your phone. If you get the very thorough one, then suck to be you and lucky those who get the bad ones.
Some people can get into the country, some cannot - depend on immigration officer.
Some catches in football were ruled to be incomplete while some others don't - depend on refs...

It's called life... Smilie

is there a $30 gift card if you get it at Costco?, Wiki says no, but some of you guys say yes
I did one myself and got the paperwork already. And yes, I got the form to claim the $30 costco card online. This is my 4th or 5th times to claim this costco card as part of buying phone, never had an issue.

From what I gather from this thread, these are the differences between ordering from Costco and TMobile.
When I say ordering from Costco, I'm referring to the Costco employee ordering online when we visit Costco warehouse.

1) Costco gives 30$ cash card. TMobile does not.
2) Costco gives free shipping of the phone. TMobile charges for that.
3) Costco has no activation fee. TMobile charges 20$ for that.
4) At Costco, you have to pay the cost of the phone (400$) plus taxes upfront. Via TMobile, you only pay taxes now. The cost (400$) will be charged to your account over 24 months.
5) Red is the only color from Costco. TMobile has options.

Is there anything else that I'm missing here? Given that the customer care of TMobile is willing to waive (2) and (3) above, it boils down to 30$ cash card difference. But since I don't have to pay the 400$ upfront, some people may find ordering via TMobile to be more lucrative. Am I missing something here?
Doesn't Costco discount the phone as well?

So, your saying when I go trade my phone in store when the SE arrives, I'll get a new break down of contract? All I see right now is an agreement of EIP for $399. 24x16.67 plus my tax and support upgrade fee of $52.55.

Whenever you buy phones from costco, they will give you bunch of paperwork including receipt. In one of them, it will have a form to claim your $30 costco gift card.
