Free 1200 speedway speedy rewards points via the app - ymmv

I just got an email from speedway saying they are offering 1200 speedy rewards points for free via the app. I had some issues getting it to load but it finally worked. To recreate, open the speedy rewards app, click the home button, and then click the "speedy deals" link. For me, it was on the top. Finally click the "food and merchandise" link. The 1200 points should be right at the top. I am not sure if it is ymmv or not but added it just in case.
Please note, as far as I can tell this is in the app only. Also the instructions above are for Android only, I assume iPhone is similar.

I got it, but the T&C says

SPEEDY STIMULUS: Get 1200 bonus points! Simply present this coupon along with a valid Speedy Rewards card at the time of purchase. Thank you for being a valued Speedy Rewards member! exp 06/30/2020

Restrictions:
Limit one redemption per coupon. Offer valid at participating stores. A valid Speedy Rewards card must be presented with coupon. Coupons that are not yet effective or are expired will not be honored. Lost coupons will not be replaced.


It's listed in the app under "My Coupons".

Does this mean I need to make a purchase to get the 1200 points?

yes, the OP has misspoken. You do not get the 1200 points immediately. You add it to your wallet and when you make a purchase you'll have to redeem it like a coupon. After they input your rewards in the POS look on the screen and tap redeem so you can redeem 1200 Point stimulus coupon and then it will be added to your account.

edit - I meant to also say or you can pull the coupon up from the app and have them scan the QR code at the register.

Also, must be redeemed by 6/30.

Not much. You can get a free bottle of water, cookie, or small trailmix with 1200 points. You need 1250 to get a small bag of chips lol. A $5 gift card is 5500 points.

Yea I did not see that part when I first posted it. I am not sure it is worth going inside the store. I am currently @160k points, however, and every little bit helps me to get to the elusive 200k! But at the moment gas is not worth much to me lol.

Just an update, as i redeemed mine today.

1. Yes, you need to physically go into the store to redeem the offer.
2. No purchase needed. I literally walked in, the cashier scanned it, and that was it. I did not make any purchases or anything. 1200 or so free points. I happened to need gas anyway, so it was a win win.
