Conflicted.

The expert reviews such as CNET are great. The user reviews are fair. There seems to be a problem with quality control. Best Buy has a number of reviews.

Hmm, cancel the month+ long Hisense H9G pre-order for this? I'm really getting tired of waiting for a TV for my Florida room.

As previous comment mentions, seems to be some quality control issues with this first version of the micro LEDs from TCL. Here is the AVSForum user thread [avsforum.com] for this TV if you want some user impressions - for being out a while, only 12 pages total which tells me not people are buying this.

They keep pushing this down to the $999 price point - third time now. They can't be selling too many then.

BTW, your H9G won't have HDMI 2.1. Sadly this TCL doesn't either I don't think.

That's like my one requirement for buying a TV in 2020. Important for me (4K 120hz gaming), probably not for most.

This tv is still a great competitor to all TV's in the $500 to $1100 range.
I think the everyday price should be $1500. Like q80r or x950g.
A couple sites rated it very well despite issues. No tv is perfect. And if 120hz is important there is supposed to be a freesync hdmi -like 2.1 features added in a firmware update later in the year. Not sure if it will be good enough to have all hdmi 2.1 features for new game consoles by end of year.
Right now it is not doing those things well .......
......and newer updated TCL/Hisense 2020 models will be out the next few months/early Fall.---all reasons for this sale.

But it competes with Vizio pqx , Sony x950g, Samsung x80r x90r, Sony x900f, and hisense h9f assuming all tvs have no issues like dse uniformity etc.
So good deal.

----
--For the 65" models, the lowest price of those has been the Hisense h9F, but a lot of people have been complaining of dirty screen bad uniformity on it lately. And only Brandsmart has them in stock for good price of $740(in Atlanta GA area, and South Florida region).

And next lowest was Vizio pqx around $900 to $1000 ---which also simetimes gets complaints of dse & slight blooming but gets the brightest at 2000 nits.
And there's also Sony x900f around $900 to $1000 at the lowest.
The Sony x950g and Samsung x80r and 90r are well over $1200, with Samsung series usually approaching $2000+.

I bought 75" version @ $1,799 + installation. This is an exceptional TV with the only issue in the reports of some black crushing. What you have to take into account is that this is in comparison to TVs that cost twice as much like Samsung Q90 or LG C9. Most other TVs are left in the dust by TCL with best in class contrast ratio and brightness. This TV does require professional calibration to bring the best in it, but with BB geek squad calibration @ only $49.99 it's a no brainier.

Next gen consoles won't be running anything at 4K 120fps lol.

Even PC gaming at 4K @ 120fps would be difficult (and very expensive) to do in the next couple of years. But if you have money for Uber expensive game ring, you should certainly wait for proper hdmi 2.1 TV. At the moment only LG provides full 2.1 spec on their OLED TVs.
