How do I port in my number? I'm only seeing option for new number when going thru the steps in the redemption link I was sent. Also do I need to purchase a sim or will they send me one? Thanks in advance.

I have read that the StackSocial deal includes the SIM card. Even though it might initially say $10 for the SIM, Tello will send it for free.

My questions for those who have done this before: can you get the free SIM and still port in a number? How does the timing of that work? If I start the port on the 29th will I get the double data deal for the first month, even without the SIM card in hand?
I just ran up to a local Sprint store and the dude just gave me a sim card for free just now. I grabbed a 516 to run a Moto E6 that I wanna use as a permanent hotspot at my cabin. 3G data should get the job done for a few Wyze cameras.

Can i call and use the internet at the same time?

I'm on the $25 sprint kickstart and after 2 years on sprint, I'm a convert and I hated sprint so much I filed an FCC complaint in 2012 that ended in a $50k fine for Sprint. I only came back because it was free for a year and Verizon AND AT&T didn't work at all in my house. Like step outside and boom incoming 4G onslaught, wifi only and why pay $150 a month to call over my own dang wifi.

Anyways sprint works great here, went to Mexico and Honduras last year with zero issues, i pull 80-300 down 15-100 up with a 40 ping or so on my s10+u.

It simply drives me absolutely nuts that I can't call and use data (GPS, work, email, Google) at the same time like I did on every other carrier since 2011 and with no hot spot there's no point in unlimited data since everywhere has free wifi or I'm at home on my own. Bonus this is a great incentive to not buy myself an S20 5G just because I want it and it's new.

Tldr I'm really high and just wanna know what's the speed like in Orlando and can I call and use Facebook at the same time?
If your phone supports VoLTE, you can talk and use data simultaneously on Sprint - see instructions and device support here: https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/se...volte.html. That said, they literally just sent a text yesterday saying that since the TMobile network, talk and text works simultaneously now for everyone without requiring VoLTE.

As for Tello, I can't verify this yet, but given it's the same network, I would assume it works. I'll be switching to Tello once I receive the rebates from the $300 switch deal.

The LTE/4G(whatever network speed their on) on Tello is much faster then Mint Mobile. I'm in Northern California.

I'm currently on a Stack Social / Tello plan. Each time it has renewed for the next month, there was a problem. The problems were solved quickly by calling Tello customer support. I found the customer support people to be very helpful and friendly. Fixed each problem on the first call.

Once my plan runs out, I'll move on to Mint for a month or two until another Stack Social deal comes up and I'll switch back as a new customer (I hope). I use GV so no issues with trying to port a number.
I had Boost prior, moved to Tello three months back, and Tello was definitely superior for coverage. One customer service question on getting my phone up and running, and they were orders of magnitude better than Boost for customer service. Got deal similar to this, enjoying not paying my phone bill for half a year.

I'm thinking about getting this to use with an E6 as well. According to the reddit thread [reddit.com] referenced earlier, 3G data is capped at 130kbps which would be too slow for just about anything. Any idea if this is true? Thanks.

Not sure if the 130kbps cap is true or not. I just set my Moto G6 Play to 3G only and got 2.8mbps down and .87mbps up. LTE gives me 15.9 up. I wouldn't think Tello 3G speeds would be any different on the Visible E6.

Do they send the Sim as well, or you would need to buy the Sim?
I have a 4 month old Sim, will that work? TIA...
Sprint SIM can be reused, depending upon phone model.

Tello won't be sending the SIM.

I can confirm that I wasted MANY frustrating hours unsuccessfully trying to get a Moto E6 to work on Tello. Tello finally admitted there was no hope of getting it resolved and after enough back and forth with Tello & StackSocial, my StackSocial payment was refunded. That phone is now up & running with US Mobile and all is well.

But I'm back to considering this deal for another family member who needs very minimal service. I'm going to hope that the E6 issue was an anomaly and Tello will work this time with a different phone. Fingers crossed!
Yeah people were saying in the TextNow (also Sprint) thread here that it wasn't working with the E6 either, some kind of provisioning issue

the only way to be sure is to run your phone ESN and sim # over the checker here https://tello.com/bring_your_own_phone

Where can I get a cheap/free sprint sim card for my Visable Moto E6?
Thanks
Seems to me that the visible E6 wont work with tello.. There was a discussion about this in that visible moto e6 thread.. Works ok with tmobile, but fore some reason there was a problem with tello and e6.

Some things to note: 1. You don't get visual voicemail and 2. You're assigned only IPv4.

I'm not sure if the restrictions are exclusive to Tello or Sprint MVNO as a whole but to me it's annoying to not have these features. After being spoiled with visual voicemail, having to check VM the old way becomes painful and I often delay checking important messages way later than I should. And if you ever SSH into a network device, you'd understand the convenience of direct connection via ipv6. But losing visual VM is the major setback here and I just don't understand why it's not available everywhere in 2020.

Just as an FYI to folks, I signed up for this during the last promotion back around early January. When I singed up on Tello with Stacksocial voucher, I had the option to include the SIM for $10. At the final checkout page, I was credited the $10 and so did not have to pay a thing for either apart from what I paid for the deal on StackSocial.

Thinking I could probably get ahead of the Tello SIM, I ordered the 3 (or 4)-in-1 Sprint SIM kit from Amazon. Most of the instructions reference a specific model sim. However, the kit these days includes more or less the same model with letter designations. I went through all of them but none worked and wasn't worth the effort to return. When the Tello SIM arrived, it worked without issue.

TL;DR Get the free SIM for your device on Tello signup if available. Sprint SIMs for MVNOs are a mess to figure out.
