Own one, love it. Super sensitive which sometimes results in errant inputs but this is the only gaming keyboard I've ever owned so I don't know if that's a universal occurrence across gaming keyboards.

Edit: apparently I have the K95 platinum. 🤷 ♂️

Pretty normal price for the membrane K55 RGB. I'd suggest going for a mechanical keyboard instead Smilie

For someone who has used membrane for the last 25 years, would you think a Cherry MX Red to be the easiest transition from membrane to mechanical?

I think brown keys are the most universal type and friendly to newcomers for mechanical keyboards. Are there any electronics stores near you that would allow you to try them? Preference on mech keyboards is very subjective haha

I agree with this. After using a Logitech G110 keyboard for years, we recently purchased a
CORSAIR - K70 RGB MK.2 and we pretty much hate it. None of us can type on it. Going to try something else for sure...

None of you can type on it?

I own a k70, it's a great kb.

Concerned at the current landscape in your house that is causing all of you to be unable to type on a keyboard.

Do you have mittens for hands?

I think the problem is that Corsair tends to use non standard key sizes, and slightly altered layouts compared to standard ansi. They aren't the only mfg that does this either. It's a weird thing that I don't understand. I had an original K70 way back when... a Das Keyboard Model S before that... and the difference was.. unpleasant. Eventually I grew accustomed to it.

Look at this K50 for example just for demonstration's sake however... bottom row is totally non standard. Standard layout for cherry/oem/sa is that you have a 6.25 unit spacebar, with 3 1.25 unit keys to the left, and 4 to the right. The K50, and almost every other Corsair board has a 6.5 unit spacebar and 3 different keysizes (4 to the right, 3 to the left) surrounding it... And they do something like this on almost every row.

The result is that if you have a muscle memory for something standardized, you will mistype every other 10 seconds. It's infuriating.

Another added negative is that it's hard to find replacement keycap sets that aren't straight from corsair. This is more than likely why gaming keyboard mfg's do this... to get deeper into your pockets.

IMO the best bet is to go with lesser known mfg's with hotswap boards using standard layouts. There are so many options out there in this market, and most of them are far better for gaming and typing than "gaming" keyboards.

Currently my favorite prebuilts are from Kemove/Dierya, or maybe anne pro...filco... magictough.. Das... tons of stuff out there.

Anyway that's my two cents, take care.

I got 2 of these for my spouse and kid a week and a half ago for $40 each, its a pretty good keyboard and the RGB is pretty neat.

I also got a Logitech G213 from Target for myself for $45 that I like a little bit better.

They are both pretty good for a middle tier gaming keyboard.

We have been using a membrane keyboard forever and I guess we don't like the change. We are all so much slower on the K70 than we were on the G110. I have large hands myself and I don't like it either. Thought about trying a hybrid type like the Ornata but not sure we would like it better...

I have k95 cherry red and it's an awesome keyboard, just very hard to get used to typing. I originally bought this k55 from best buy but returned it. I just built an entire system with Corsair icue in mind and this keyboard DOES NOT work with lightning link which is what syncs everything together
