This is perfect timing. Finally broke mine, no apple care. Sold it for $125 broke and sold the band for $35. I'm going to be $200 for a new Nike Apple Watch. Cheaper than the repair. Thank you!

Likelihood this will go down further in price in the future and likelihood that series 6 will be further improved? Have a series 3 - and thought was amazing compared to the original I owned, and it's still working perfectly, so just trying to balance my urge to burn money with my hope to avoid immediate obsolescence. TIA.
"Go down further in price"? Unlikely. This will be the lowest price before the Series 6 is released, at which point the Series 5 will be discontinued.

"Series 6 will be further improved"? Guaranteed. At the very least, faster with another sensor; potentially, sleep tracking and another advancement.

Currently have the series 3, it's working but really want to upgrade. Is there a noticeable difference?
It isn't worth upgrade from a 3, no.

The major changes are:

- Bigger screen, bigger battery, but worse battery life (because the small battery bump doesn't fully compensate for the larger screen size).
- Always-On Display that many disable due to battery life issues.
- ECG app which is a gimmick (it is useful once throughout the watch's life).
- Compass which is useful if you specifically need a compass.

In my OPINION you shouldn't upgrade from the 3 to the 5, the 6 is a major refresh/redesign that may support Pulse Ox and many hope will address the ongoing battery life problems that have plagued Apple Watch since its inception.

I have a series 4 and the only thing different to me is the ECG and worse battery life. I would've kept the 3 if I knew how shitty the battery life in the 4 was. I used to get 3 days from my series 3 and I get barely over 1 day with the series 4.

I haven't read many rumors of them redesigning the series 6. From what I hear it's mainly another small upgrade like the 4 was to the 5.

Then series 7 will come next year, series 8 for the following year, series 9 in 3 years, series 10 in four, series 11 in five and so on. The cycle is still ongoing. There is no value in delay gratification here therefore no point of waiting for the best one anymore beside getting for cheap but that just something else.

It has been widely reported:

Quote :
These improvements will be made in part through a rumored swap to liquid crystal polymer or LCP material for the flexible circuit boards expected to be included in the Apple Watch Series 6, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
This is a pretty substantial change relative to the AW 1 through 5, that will allow a more dense circuity. It doesn't mean the exterior case will look different, but it might positively impact battery life due to lower construction densities (thus allowing a physically larger battery in the same shell).

Is there a good way to tell what size to get if you've never tried one on before?

Still have a series 3 and with damn near 3 day battery life I'm not upgrading yet. Will wait to see what the series 6 offers but I'm in no rush to upgrade.

I'm in the same situation you are! 3 was better than 1, now trying to figure out if there is much improvement to the 5.

My wife and I were just talking earlier today about upgrading from her Series 1 and my Series 2. Perfect timing! Picked up a 40mm and 44mm!
