Yes, unlike all other MMOs, Sony bows to Square Enix because they don't want to lose a lot of exclusivity of their games and allow multiplatform between PC and PS4. When I played for two years, we had people on PC and PS4 playing together and when my PC died, I was able to continue raiding on my PS4 while waiting on parts.

Great game BTW, the first expansion killed the Bard class for me so I quit. Sounds like they fixed a lot of those issues now but I've already had my fill of the game.
Huh? Sony is allowing crossplay in almost every online game now

Warning!!!! This game requires you pay monthly to play it. Avoid at all costs. Don't fall prey to this scheme.

Went ahead and did it. Keep in mind this is a copy of the game, and did include 30 days. Both characters I made on PC are playable.

Went to store, downloaded game, and when starting you have to either sign in to Square Enix account or create new one. Signed in, then tied PSN to Square Enix.
thanks for the reply man lol i expected too much

The second and third expansion for me is when the jobs started to feel lacking. Instead of expanding on the jobs like they did from base game to first expansion, they essentially dumbed down the jobs to make they play similarly yet have a tiny bit of uniqueness to make it "easier". Astrologian probably got hit the hardest with the latest expansion, IMO.

Despite that, I still am subbed years later and play it in my free time.

It's a MMO. With a pretty healthy subscriber base and good content. May not be your cup of tea, but it would be much worse of a game if it were free to play.

So the character from the "up to lvl 35" free trial does not get extended with this?
I'm honestly not sure. Never did a trail. I was subscribed on PC 2 years ago.

All I can say is that this isn't considered a trial. On my account it now shows I "own" the base game for PS4 now.

It was letting me log in as a level 51 character, but there was a queue and I didn't have time. Not sure how it would have worked since base game is up to level 50 (I have first expansion on PC).

Did blackmage ever get spells like freeze and tornado?

Also do you get to mix two jobs like in final fantasy xi?

Just in case anyone was in a similar situation as me (had this on PC but not PS4), the game time also works on PC. I know to some this is obvious, but was a little unclear for me in my searches.

Hats off to you for sticking it out ha. I let my house worth millions of gil go poof after they announced they'd hold your plot of land hostage to the sub; wasn't worth it and was the nail in the coffin for me ever returning. They turned an awful game around and it was amazing those first two years after relaunch. Sounds like they kept going down the path of copying EVERYTHING WoW did, including the bad ideas. Oh well, cest la vie.

No, and sadly not - Black Mage basically has two "modes" - Umbral Ice is reduced Mana cost for spells but decreased damage, and Astral Fire is the opposite. They have a couple of utility spells, like Thunder (damage over time), but they have not given them Ancient Magic. In the newest expansion, you get to run some story dungeons with NPCs, and one of them has a variety of Black Mage spells we don't get, including a tornado effect.

Subjobs are not a thing - in previous versions, you could link some abilities from class to class, but they did away with that - now each "role" (DPS, Tank, Healer) has a set of common abilities they can assign, but you can't pick aspects of a specific job to apply.
