This is a decent price on a very well rounded pair. Can anybody recommend a Sub $300 pair of usable open back's?
Audeze DX... Wait for another sale.

If you can get a hold of a pair of MK2 Argons, but you need a decent Amp to push em. I use Audio gd. Have been perfect.

I have Philips X2HR right now. Do I need to upgrade to get anything better?

Not really. Be happy with what you have or jump to Focal Elex.

I'm looking for a good set of cans that are closed back. I currently have HD6xx with o2 amp, but my wife games next to me and I need some closed back. I was going for the Elex, but obviously they aren't closed. Would this be my deal?

Thanks bud. You hold me and saved my perks for now. I really want to buy a good Audiophile headphones and a suitable amp. I tried Bose, Sony but still not happy. Fidelio is much better but it's not smooth.

I feel the HD6XX is a tremendous value that puts headphones in the $300-700 market to shame.
With one caveat; they are high impedence and require a good amp to drive them. And they scale so well with amping.
*I'd like to believe having an amp is almost a given for those shopping in that $300-700 range.

On that note, it's difficult to recommend the HD6XX if having an amp is not included in the budget.
How about a dragonfly red off just an iPhone XR?

My hearing is destroyed from so many concerts I wouldn't be able to tell the damn difference between a $200 and $800 pair of headphones.

That will be adequate to drive them to slightly uncomfortable listening volumes. I have 250 ohm dt990pro and dt770 and dragonfly red is plenty

You know it's quality as it's K-Mart's store brand for electronics.

Don't need one.

But if you had to, the Atom.
