Are they good for cutting onions?
Not right out of the box, but a little work with a file along the bottom edge will sharpen them up right good.

BTW, you can get the same thing for under $2 without the ugly yellow ear pieces: https://www.amazon.com/Radians-MR...B000GULTI6

$0.99 glasses with Dewalt name for 3x the price

no thanks
Exactly. These are cheap $1-2 glasses with a logo on them.

Spend the money for quality safety glasses that have some side protection, ballistic and anti fog and take care of them. You never know when you'll be getting into a project that these glasses are unsuitable for, and it sucks when you have inadequate safety equipment.

Thanks. Just ordered 1. I need to drill through a metal stud in the ceiling. Only had tinted safety glasses which are hard to see thru. These will work perfectly.

I would not use these for drilling metal, especially above you. They have no side protection. Those metal shavings roll its way into your eye and you could be in a world of hurt.

These will protect your eyes from covid 19. Fact
Actually, to protect the virus from entering through your eyes, you'd need safety goggles that seal completely as the most efficient way for the virus to spread is through airborne respiratory transmission, according to the latest CDC guidelines.

Speaking as an eyecare professional, please buy these! We see a constant stream of folks who injure their eyes mowing the lawn, opening champagne bottles, welding... practicing axe-throwing (?) A little eye pro goes a long way from keeping you out of the operating room.
