Why thumbs down? In the market for one and this seems like an ok deal for new, not refurbished, no?

V8 absolute deal is incredible but had made up my mind to go with V10 due to long term battery replacement cost.

Not sure why this is getting the thumbs down either.. This is a solid deal direct from Dyson. The V7 Animal for under $200 (including tax for me) is a steal, has almost all of the attachments of the absolute, but trades HEPA filter for the soft roller. I was going to pay $200 for the Allergy on Newegg but it sold out. Thanks!

Because 99% of the people who surf "Hot Deals" are the 99% that think a Rolls Royce is just an overpriced Corolla and would thumbs down a deal on a RR as well ..

Honestly I bought the V7 Absolute for whatever the black Friday deal was, have been using it for 6 months, and still don't think it's worth it. It truly is overpriced and cleans worse than my $80 Bissell Clean View that I've had for 5 years. You can test it yourself, vacuum a room with the Dyson stick and then vacuum it again with any upright vacuum. The upright will pick up more than twice as much as the Dyson stick. Do it the other way around and the Dyson stick won't pick up anything after the upright.

The only new part I had to buy for the Bissell in 5 years was a new belt that I got a set of 2 for $15. Dyson will need a new battery every couple of years especially if you're cleaning the whole house.

The single advantage is the portability which matters a lot to some people. But it lacks both power and longevity and costs 2-3x as much as an upright. And don't even get started on the higher end models like V10 and V11. Those are a ripoff at any price.

Difference being unlike a vacuum you plug in, a dyson vacuum is so easy to use your floors will be cleaner (in my experience). Huge Heavy vacuums You have to plug in all over the place just are a huge hassle. They're more powerful, no doubt, but sort of reminds me of laptops vs desktops. Different use cases and different expectations.

Only complaint I think is valid about dyson stick vacuums is the fluffy roller is $$$ and the replacement batteries are also pretty pricey for the actual size of the battery itself. Probably 80% Profit margin on those for dyson.

so the way that this is meant to be used is somewhat different from the uprights. This is meant for quick daily vacuuming so that dust doesn't build up while the uprights are good for large, once a week vacuuming. Also the portability is just much easier vs corded. If you get the dyson you really have to change your vacuuming habits for it to be effective.
