amazon combines reviews for all products in the same page
if you filter it out, there are 10 5-stars, 3 3-stars, and 4 1-stars

it's even worse on newgg (again, after filtering out reviews for only this monitor)

I guess I'll be the first to ask opinions on - this or the new HP Omen 27i?

rtings prefers the asus to the 27gl850, which uses the same panel as the omen
seems to have qc issues though

AQ is the IPS panel, BQ is TN. If you're buying this expensive of a monitor you need to know the difference between the two. In short, IPS is generally better colors and viewing angles for slightly slower response times. TN has the response times that most gamers go for, but IPS has closed the gap enough that I wouldn't go TN any more, but TN also cheaper.

I just recently (last week) got the AQ and so far I love it. Not a single dead or stuck pixel and Asus has a ZBD (zero bright dot) policy on their upper line of models anyway. Also, a lot of 1440p 144hz+ monitors have ridiculous "gamer" form factors. This one is very clean and mostly "standard", which is what I prefer anyway. Don't rely on the 2watt speakers built in to these. They're nice to have as backup but they are pretty bad.

Be careful as OP's link incorrectly sends you to the model with the TN panel (model VG27BQ) and should be far cheaper than it is. This is the good link to the IPS panel (model VG27AQ):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WQ4F...ZEbERY5CJK

Which is not a very slick deal but is slightly less than I paid Newegg for it 2 weeks ago.

I have the VG27AQ for a few months now, got it at Microcenter pre-virus.

It's great - great colors for photo work. Hard to judge the gaming cause my PC is too slow to really make use of it. I mainly got it for general use.

I've had this and the LG 27GL83A-B in my cart for a few weeks now just to keep tabs on pricing. The ASUS has come back in stock randomly a couple times over the last week or so at the ~$415 mark, but the LG has yet to come back at a similar price (from what I've seen). Call it confirmation bias or whatever you will, but my personal opinion is that the LG is more desirable.

I'm holding out for the LG to drop to the $300-350 range since I don't have an immediate need, but I would definitely jump on the VG27AQ for anything at or below $415 if I needed it now. Definitely be sure to buy direct from Amazon though.

I did quite a bit of research on this monitor. It's a fantastic monitor. Especially for gaming. 165hz and black frame insertion. I ended up going with the omen 27i because I liked the newer nano ips panel. This is a great price for this monitor however.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I already got the HP Omen during the deal 😉 but wanted to know if this was going to be "that" much better. I'm just happy getting a 1440 144hz IPS monitor. The few that has been posted this past weekend are much better than what I have now so it's a win for me. I've been waiting like others for the LG to come in stock but no luck.
