This is inaccurate, you absolutely can change the routers IP address.
You can only specify start and end range of DHCP and router will automatically select IP address. Subnet for this is hardcoded to 255.255.255.0 and IP address is hardcoded to .1.

My network is 255.0.0.0, so this is not going to work. Confirmed by Amplifi support and you can see a lot of people at forusm complaining about this. There is also no configuration of gateway etc...

I have this router next to me, can take screenshots from configuration if needed.

"Advanced Configuration" have only two settings, start-end DHCP range and static leases, nothing else.

Lol you owned that guy, fan boys always try to push their products even when they dont know anything about them. I am happy I am not the only one correcting the misinformation these guys try to push. Also here is documentation showing you can only change the range directly from the manufacturer.

Like I said they were in stock when I looked, then it switched to backorder. People must have bought out their inventory and now supply chain issues.

If you dont mind open box they have an open box you can order right now for a huge discount $360 + $5 shipping. I am actually very tempted myself to buy it, if it wasnt for the fact that any of this current wifi 6 gear is going to get blown away by early next year so I dont want to shell out the big dough on stuff that will not be upgraded to 6E/W2 standards.

https://www.newegg.com/asus-rt-ax...lsrc=aw.ds

At almost double the performance and all the bells and whistles, which the alien has very little of, for cheaper looks like a very good pick up, as long as there is nothing wrong with the router.

The Dong gentleman mentioned here and his site list it as the best and most stable router out, when he did his long stress test on it no issues.
Just got shipping notice from Newegg. Should be here Friday. Looking to replace my Orbi Mesh that's become too inconsistent/buggy.

What made you wait, I thought you were all set on the Alien? Let me know how you like it, its not 6E/W2 gear but if it drops cheap enough maybe ill get it for my AiMesh one day.

Ooh actually I got confused by your statement, I thought you meant after waiting 4 weeks you decided to call it quits cause new egg originally told you 3 days. So I thought you ordered the Alien.

I think you made the right choice to keep on waiting, this is brand new gear, and as they say the good things in life are worth waiting for. Still going to be curious how it works out for you as I dont know anyone who owns this yet, so let us know what you think?

if your current wifi setup works well enough, wait until Wifi 6E with 6ghz routers come out. If not, buy a cheap mesh system to hold you over. 6ghz is the biggest upgrade to wifi in a very long time:

This is the biggest spectrum addition since the FCC cleared the way for Wi-Fi in 1989, so it's a huge deal. The new spectrum basically quadruples the amount of space available for routers and other devices, so it will mean a lot more bandwidth and a lot less interference for any device that can take advantage of it.

"This is the most monumental decision around Wi-Fi spectrum in its history, in the 20 years we've been around," Kevin Robinson, marketing leader for the Wi-Fi Alliance, an industry-backed group that oversees the implementation of Wi-Fi, said ahead of the vote.

Devices are expected to start supporting 6GHz Wi-Fi by the end of 2020, so its implementation isn't far away. When it arrives, expect to see it branded under the name "Wi-Fi 6E."
I can't imagine spending this much money on a router right now. Luckily Plume were giving out free Superpods earlier this year and I took advantage of that to hold me over until 6E routers come out. Hopefully AmpliFi comes out with a proper 6E router soon as I've heard really good things about their routers.

Hear you on Wifi 6e. The problem is that it will be a very long time before many clients (laptops, phones, other devices) support that 6ghz band. Long adoption period. I upgraded to the Orbi Wifi 6 mesh system and my speeds are 5-6x what they were.

depends how 6ghz can be implemented and used. If the new 6e routers can use the 6ghz as a backhaul for mesh systems, that should be better than utilizing a second 5ghz band in current mesh tri-band routers. But yeah, if you are aiming for a single router, the 6ghz wont likely be utilized for a very long time

True re backhaul, but I get 700-800 mbps backhaul right now on Wifi 6. And I assume 6ghz will have a shorter range, right?

Yeah, No I was frustrated with still waiting for almost 4 weeks when the ETA at time of ordering with the egg was 3 days. I looked everywhere for a place that had the new Asus in stock but couldn't or I would have cancelled and ordered elsewhere. Was pleasantly surprised when I got shipping notice yesterday from the egg.

My current mesh performance has deteriorated either from firmware changes or hardware degradation, not sure , but it's nowhere near as fast or reliable as it once was. I could not wait any longer, and based on reviews this is one of if not the best options for new hardware out there.

Just finished setting it all up, the quality, ease-of-setup, and the performance!!! At first I felt I spent too much on a router, now I feel it is one of the best $400 spent 😂

I hate to disappoint you. I have the 89x and it's crap.
I had a better range with other ASUS routers. I just got my Amplifi alien in and will let you know the comparison
