Is that VTEAX? I see it's also available as an ETF (VTEB) with slightly lower expense ratio than the mutual fund. Any reason not to just get the ETF?

no it's VPALX (it's the Pennyslvania one so i pay $0 state income tax on the distributions bc i live in that state)

First Foundation Bank online high yield savings 1.6% is best I can find. Until recently they were still 2% actually

outside of emergency fund and side account for rental repairs, I keep my real estate "next deal* savings fund in vanguard municipal bond fund admiral shares class. i pay 0 tax on distributions, and price doesn't fluctuate all that much. tax equivalent yield is ~ 3.5% currently for me
I opened with Comenity and they changed rate from 1.70 to 1.35 and I have been losing money on my $300k deposit.. absolutely horrible customer service.. Thinking of getting into First Foundation Bank.. do they also change rates fast? I don't want to move money and then they go down to a lower rate.

It's very difficult to find one bank that's always higher than another. They all seem to take turns being the rate leader at one point or another, until they're not. And it's usually after you've moved most of your assets over to them that things change.

I am losing 0.35% now everyday for my $330k deposit when I could have gotten 1.70% as their messed up system screwed my app.. and they rejected it and asked me to file again..

If you're talking about their High Yield Savings account, it's not a fixed rate anyways. So you're not losing 0.35% everyday...you lost 0.35% APY in the days they couldn't get your app straight before the rate went down for everyone.

Unless they offered a special rate lock for their Savings account, but I don't see that often.

First Foundation is VERY slow to change rates, which is great
As I said before, they were at 2% for a while Ally and others were at ~ 1.6%

Bummer, so it does take the max stated time 60 days to qualify + "within 90 days" to pay out.

Did you leave the $15K in there the whole time? From what I've read, after you qualify, you can downgrade to basic checking to lower the minimum to $1500 and still get the bonus.

Citi refused to give me $500 bonus for opened a checking acct because one bonus per life even on different product.
Really? Don't they usually put that in the fine print? This one says
"Eligible Customers" are New-to-Citibank Checking Customers who have not been a signer on a Citibank checking account within the past 180 days. I guess key words is New to Citibank.

Valid for non-CA residents as well-there may be extended timeline for CA residents though. I opened this account but it has an old school system where you need to sign and send the document via mail or email. I didn't know this while opening an account- I was under an impression that it'll automatically approve an account. Apparently not because you need to sign a form and send it back which I haven't done it because I think it should have e-signature. Also, I think $15000 in 60 days with terrible APR, I'm not going to sign the document.

To add to this, the Citi Account Package has a $25 monthly service fee or $10k in account.

Anyone know if it is easy to go from Citi Account Package to Citi Basic Account Package?

Doable online or must go into a branch or if at all?
I used to have the Citi Account Package and I just used the online chat option and asked them to downgrade me to basic without any problem.

Are you talking about downgrading after you've gone the 60 days to qualify for the promo but before bonus is paid out so you don't have to have the $10K minimum in there while waiting on the 90 days for them to pay out the bonus?

I imagine most would cancel the account after getting the bonus to start the timer on qualifying for the next bonus offer.
