It is generally not recommended to use dish soap to wash a vehicle. Could strip the wax and leave your paint unprotected.
It's also a great way to actually clean the vehicle though, to prep for retreatment. Car washes that don't remove wax aren't cleaning as much...

hum, well i have been using it on our oldest truck for years, but i dont wash it to death, just a couple of times a year. as old as the truck is the clear coat is still in good shape and shiny.

I always thought that the paint has a clear protective coating, so the paint will always be protected, and waxing the vehicle is just to temporarily smooth out any surface scratches that might have on there to make it shines, no?
