Good deal- if you're planning to upgrade the RAM on the base Pro it's a bit hard to justify not getting the $1600 deal, since the 16 GB upgrade is not on sale for the base $1100 model. The $1600 deal includes 10th gen processors with much powerful integrated graphics (still not a dedicated GPU though), much faster DDR4 RAM, and higher sustained clock speeds. If you want to use it for the long term I highly recommend this model.

$500 ($1599 vs $1099) is a steep price to pay to get the better model but when you consider the 256gb SSD and 8GB of RAM on the $1099 is NOT upgrade-able to me it makes the decision still a pretty easy one if you can swing the extra coin. I cant imagine working with 8GB of RAM in a few years, going to be a huge limitation down the road. Not to mention the 10th gen model uses fast 3733mhz DDR4 and the 8th gen uses much slower 2133mhz DDR3. To me seems like the $1099 model is a rather short term solution and the 16 GB model will last a much longer useful lifespan, twice the amount of storage is just gravy on top. The 10th gen processor compared to 8th gen isn't that significant enough to make a big difference really though, but it gets you the much faster RAM though.

Question. I got the 16 gb memory and 1tb hd from Costco for 1949 last week but I get a 4 year warranty from them. Best Buy is showing 1799. Worth returning??? Any advice??

I would like to know this too. My daughter needs a new MacBook. Should I wait until Aug for back to school. In reality, this deal only saves $100 versus getting it at Apple.com using the student discount.
