Right now, Lego.com has a promotion where you can get a free Lego Blue Fury Hot Rod (replica of 1995 original set) with any purchase of $85 or more. Free shipping for orders over $35. When I ordered something, I also still qualified for the free Lego Beach Buggy polybag also.

They run a different promo every month, and considering Lego.com is more expensive than most retailers unless the promo is an exclusive item and you want it for collecting, it rarely makes sense.

This one they value at $12.99, so the best case it is $12.99 "discount" on an $85 purchase. But as I said if you want to collect the promo you have no other choice.

To be fair, these things are usually around $5 at Walmart and other retailers.

In comparison, I got a free dune buggy and a surfer dude and board for purchasing $40 last week.

So while this nice definitely a nice bonus, but having to purchase $85 to qualify is a bit much.

This one is exclusively available for a limited time through LEGO and is "valued" at $12.99. Sometimes they have other promos at a lower threshold for smaller sets, like the $4 Beach Buggy last month that was not exclusive and available at Walmart as you mentioned.

This is a cool one and will not be available for purchase through LEGO or other retailers. And they usually sell out before the promotion window ends.

And you can resell on eBay for about 3-4 times the "value"

i have over $85 of stuff in my cart (before tax/shipping), i'd have expected the blue fury to show up in the cart for free, but there's no evidence i will get it if i complete my order. pulled the trigger, i guess i'll just see if it shows up and if not give them a ring.
