What's the difference between the CL16 and CL18 versions? Microcenter has the same brand, same size, same 3600 speed but it is the CL18 and it is cheaper.

Nice explanation here [reddit.com]

Frequency and CL both matter.

Faster than the recent CL18 deal for $67 ($9 less than this deal). If I was buying, I'd spend for the CL16 here. And no, anyone who recently bought the CL18 -- you're fine, don't worry.

Fwiw, from the comments on Newegg, one person said that with this kit, he tightened to CL15 easily on his Z390 mobo. He mentions it's CJR and another poster mentioned D-die, which I see confirmed from a Thaiphoon Burner summary on an Amazon review. It may not tighten a whole lot, based on the other reviews I'm peeking at, and some reported not getting XMP out of the box but one said he bumped DRAM Voltage to 1.4V and he got the 3600 and rated timings after that.

If xmp doesn't work is that a returnable reason?

Man I'm getting these anyway.

Question for the experts: I have 2x4gb in right now. If I add the 2x8 and run 24, will it run as fast as 2 sticks in dual channel mode? Or is it slower when you fill all the slots? Assuming the memory is all the same speed.

(My existing memory is 2600)

I use this set with a 3700X and X570 Aorus Elite, XMP worked perfectly and runs at correct speed

It's going to run at your slowest rated speed. Better off taking out the 2x4 sticks. But double check to make sure your motherboard/cpu support up to 3600 speeds. If they don't you would be locked at a slower speed.

$59 shipped so pretty close and its 3000Mhz, better than the 2400Mhz many prebuilts still use.

Looking for $55 ram, really. After tax I'm at $64 for that.

That's also a random sale, these guys talk like it's the regular, everyday price of $55.

Don't use these 3600 with old 2666, that will slow your 3600, sell the old Rams...just use 3600 cl16 dual channel only

I used the 2x16 variant of this kit in my recent 3600/asus x570 prime p build. For XMP to work perfectly, I had to make some tweaks to the termination block parameters from the Dram calculator to fix intermittent cold boot/standby wake issues. Otherwise these work great. My initial tweaking got em to 3733 but not stable. But with looser timings and/or higher voltage I think these kits can get there.

My mobo supports 3466mhz. Would I have to manually set the timings and voltages to get it to run at this speed?
