Thanks OP!
This is the size we needed and will make a good companion to the 65" TCL 6 series from Costco we snagged for the TV Room. I know Walmart and TVs are wildly unpredictable right now (regardless of what BrickSeek says) but I took a chance and the Farmingdale, NY store had one of these for me to grab. Nice!
Score one for BrickSeek this time.

Bought this tv in 2018 for $228 at Target and I would recommend for gaming as it has low input lag. However, it has very low brightness and my screen now has lines running up it horizontally which I've found out is a very common problem with this tv after a year or so. I would recommend waiting til it's <$200 or spending more and getting the 5 or 6 series.

The refurbished one was a little cheaper. I bought that one. Free delivery too.

Ours has been good as a bedroom TV. Viewing angles aren't great, but it's perfectly angled toward the bed with our wall mount, so not an issue in our case. I would buy again.

Just saw this yesterday too. Very tempted to get one for the bedroom, sideload Kodi, and ditch our Gen1 FireTV (the one with a hardwired LAN port).
Any idea on the available storage? I haven't seen a spec on the TV regarding that. The FireTV is tight on storage once Kodi indexes our local library.

For anyone looking, it seems the EC78 series has 16gb of built-in storage. First gen FireTV has 8gb so that's still an upgrade for us haha.

I just wonder if TCL is porting over the EU line of android TVs and forgoing the new product launches due to Covid. I believe that EC78 was out a year ago but not here.

You linked a 40 inch 1080p tv in comparison to a 50 inch 4K? There's only a 50 dollar price difference, doesn't at all seem worth it to me.

it wasn't a direct comparison, some prefer android TV for some reason or claim they can't tell the difference in pixels. Most content is still upscaled anyway. I have no idea how good the new TCL are but it was newsworthy for those on a tight budget.

I'm hoping they will be bringing new 4K models to BB soon. I don't mind paying top dollar sometimes, it paid off on my TCL 6 at launch over two years ago.

Got two so far- both with the same problem. They do not shut off- the panel stays lit after power off for hours- all settings turned off. Replacement has the same problem! Ridiculous

Westinghouse 50 inch 4k HDTV with Roku for 229 shipped at Best Buy. Reviews are good, has been on Slickdeals several times for less, but tv deals being rarer these days, it's a good deal.

Just beware the leg base is 42 inches, much larger than some entertainment centers.

How is the picture on the TV? And how it looks in bright rooms .
