Not really a good deal considering what I've seen in the past. Nothing has beat Walmarts $1000 computer in power per dollar in my opinion.
it's not dropping down to $1000 any time soon bc of corona

The Asus TUF A15 is a better deal imo. 2060 Max-P GPU, Ryzen 7 4800h, 1TB SSD, 16gb ram and a 90whr for $1200.

Once you increase the ram and storage on this one it becomes a meh deal and the 1660ti won't age as well as a 2060.
also comes with typical poor reliability of ASUS budget-tier lineups
and the dirt-looking 60% srgb panel (and 30ms ms response times)
10-15% more performance at the expense of a screen downgrade + $200 more? pass.

Black Friday might have something similar. When you're spending $900+ it's worth waiting.

Black Friday is still almost 6 months away
some people can't wait that long
this is certainly not a bad deal. it's slightly better than the evoo 15" at $950 because it has a metal chassis

Waiting will probably get you a 4800h and a 2600 video card for about $1000-1100. The processing power alone is a huge difference for the small price difference. And the video card has better and newer features. Being inpatient would result in getting much weaker specs at a small difference in price.

"much weaker"
The 4800H and 9750H seem to be basically equal in games. https://www.ultrabookreview.com/3...tel-9750h/ (and yes if you do manage to fill up all 8 cores the 4800H will be better)
The 2060 around 10-15% more powerful than the 1660 ti.
If you're comfortable waiting for 6 months for that performance bump, sure. But not everyone wants to wait that long, and the prospect of there being a better deal half a year later certainly doesn't make this deal bad.

Gaming performance is similar but overall performance is not. The 4800h is AMDs masterpiece. Unless you absolutely need a gaming laptop right now it would be crazy to get the old mans 9750.

The 2060 is able to use DLSS 2.0 which can run a game at 540p while having it look like 1080p.
This will help in future demanding games and makes the 2060 a must have over the 1660ti.
The 1660ti will be far outdated before the 2060 ever is just for DLSS alone.

Greed of cpu/gpu makers.. AMD should have had their next gen GPU released by now or at least samples for review out..

Anybody know if you can upgrade it with an NVME SSD? Not looking to game, mainly video conversion and editing. Was looking at the Evoo 15 inch EG-LP5-BK

And another 6 months after that in Spring of 2021, you could save another few hundred dollars when the next gen comes out .. I never understood this argument whatsoever. I mean, yeah, if Black Friday is like 3-4 weeks away, sure it may be worth holding out for. But 6 months?! It makes no sense, the cycle would never break.

Question for the OP:

How easy/hard is it to open the bottom of the laptop for DIY upgrades? Does it have an easy access panel or not?

EDIT: I did google Eluktronics Mag 15 but not sure if it's the same model as this one. It had a bay for a 2.5" HD. Could you confirm or deny if this is the case with yours?
