I picked up the multi head edger last year during the Father's Day sale and I think this is the first time HD has lowered the price on the hedger attachment.

I paid the same price on April 17 at Home Depot. I used it for the first time last weekend. The reach is very handy, and it cuts well. The working end can be set at a variety of angles relative to the shaft, which is nice for working in tight spaces. The reach and versatility of it being part of a multi-head system comes at the cost of the tool being a bit unwieldy, which could be an issue for some. All in all, I feel that it was a good addition to my collection of Ego tools.

How many batteries/chargers do you have and what Power? I only have the lawnmower with a charger and 7.5 battery. Just bought it last month and love it. I wish they would sell these with a choice of including batteries without chargers. I want to get the string trimmer, hedger and blower, but do not need four chargers and do not want to pay for all of those chargers. But, I need several batteries.

I have a 2.0, 2.5, and 5.0 along with a charger for each (they all came bundles with tools). I started with a carbon shaft trimmer and 16" chainsaw last summer to replace a gas power trimmer and an electric chain saw that both died. I have since added a blower and the multi-head system with the edger, hedge trimmer, and pole saw attachments. I also have a another string trimmer new in box as it was cheaper to buy that with the 5.0 Ah battery than the battery alone. The smaller batteries work great for most things, though it's nice having the larger battery for the chainsaw and edger.

I agree that it's a bit annoying to accumulate chargers, but I have yet to see a deal on batteries that were better than buying a tool/battery/charger bungle. I'm sure it will be painful down the road when the batteries eventually need to be replaced, but I have been very happy with the performance of the tools and don't miss the hassle of maintaining gas powered tools or having to deal with long extension cords.

There was a YMMV deal on batteries posted here for HD they were the 2.0 on clearance for $33 besides that not many deals on batteries.

Last year HD had a bundle with the string trimmer and blower one 2.5 battery and charger for $199 so it was like getting the blower for free. A lot of stores never put out the display and many of us picked these up on clearance.
Here is a link to that deal not sure if they will have the bundle this year:

I've got two regular chargers and one fast charger. One regular charger stays at my parents house and the other two stay here. When I'm doing a lot of yard work, I have two batteries charging at all times while I'm working. Anytime I take a battery out of one of my tools I hot swap in a fresh one. I know there have been times where if I had only one charged I would have run through two batteries before a third is ready. In fact as it is, I can easily run through all of my batteries in a half days work and the extra chargers are great then.

That being said, MOST days, I only use one or two batteries and just the fast charger. But I wouldn't give any of them up knowing what I know now.

Edit: I have two small batteries, two medium, and one 7.5ah

This is not a Slickdeals except for the fact that the attachment parts almost never go on sale

No it is the tool only per the title. This is for those of us that already own the multi head system.

Which is what I stated in the OP. So maybe not Slick but it is a deal.

I'm thinking about getting this as I need it for my bushes. Now I'm debating on selling all of my other brands of trimmers, hedge cutters, lawn mower to switch to EGO for the batteries and attachments. I may consider making that move for a long term commitment.

You're not gonna like using the 7.5 with anything other than the mower and snowblower. It's way too heavy. If you need the extra juice, you're better off with 2 x 5.0 batteries as one can be on the charger while the other is in use.

Have been collecting EGO products for 4 years now. Usually I wait to buy one new I'm so excited to add this to my EGO line up but I love them so much for their ease of use I've started buying more than one each year. If this is your first jump on an EGO product, do it. I have yet to have something fail on me.

Mine arrived today first use there is a learning curve and my technique improved over the few hours I was using it. It is heavy when fully extended but well balanced. I could not see getting the pole extension attachment as I would think it would be harder to control. I was using the 2.5 battery and still had 3 bars of charge left so this seems to have a drain similar to the weed wacker and not the blower which is a good thing. I had the power head set to "2" and I thought it was getting bogged down at times but actually I was not fully depressing the throttle which is not intuitive if you are holding the power head sideways. I did have some branches it could not cut, over 1" in diameter, so I had to use a looper on those. I think I will still use my old craftsman 24" for quick touch ups around the front patio but the ego cuts trimming time down around 50% on my main hedge.

It comes with a nice blade cover and there is an option to buy and ad a tip cover.

This should also work on your ego. I have it and it works really good. The square tip on the blade keeps the branch in the blade for a better cut. This ego attachment doesn't have it.
