Couple of things: price is nice. But
1. Pictures in the image gallery are not consistent

- The fist picture shows brand as "Blue Arrow"
- Second picture shows as "Siyang"
- Both brands are not even listed in the CDC's filtering test results
https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/r...sults.html

2. According to CDC's website (lets put away the proper fitting issue due to ear-loops and focus on filtration) only 99 products passed the minimum 95% mark among 234.

And here is the graphical representation of the test results (According to CDC's website, Updated June 4th 2020)

The failure rate is 58%. Only 42% passed the 95% filtration point. Good luck to us who are looking for a decent KN95 mask.

Not necessarily. Those still use the same melt blown layer as the kn95s. I'm sure big companies are going as cheap as they can on those and probably nowhere near 95 filtration for surgical. Still better than nothing and still keep your distance

relax. these are for going to the grocery store - they work jut fine for that. when i perform surgery next time, i'll be sure to wear something better....
While this may be true for a lot of people, KN95 masks are being used as a substitute for N95 masks in some procedures or front-line environments. For example, many dentists are re-opening and don't have access to N95, yet they work directly in the mouth and are at high risk. So the info provided by the parent poster is actually very valuable and is exactly the info I was looking for.

For low risk interactions, like going to the grocery store, a cloth/disposable/surgical mask is probably sufficient.

Even if a worst case of a crappy kn95 mask being only 10-20 percent efficient, I'd still take that over a blue mask or face covering anyday

But why? Why is a KN95 mask better than a regular blue mask?

Because water doesn't go through a kn95 mask. Whereas a cloth or surgical mask does let water through. Common sense applies. I've been doubling up on my masks when I go out. This is what I've learned to do from my gf that works in the medical field. Wear a kn95 + a surgical mask on top or face covering.

Collection efficiency of surgical mask filters can range from less than 10% to nearly 90% for different manufacturers' masks when measured using the test parameters for NIOSH certification.
