Wowtac A6 flashlight,18650 built-in charger $24, FS

ThruNite Direct via Amazon [amazon.com] has the Wowtac A6 for $30 - 20% off clippable coupon = $24. Free shipping even if you don't have Prime.

I saw another flashlight deal today on the front page for the Anker Bolder LC90 $22 and almost brought it. After some research, I'm glad I found this one instead. It's $2 more than the Anker, but has some features I liked better:
  • no awful "tactical" aesthetic. Just a straight flashlight.
  • has a firefly mode of 0.2 lumens, and it can be accessed directly from off.
  • button sequence doesn't force you to go through strobe or turbo mode mode in typical usage. Don't have to hold the button down for 2 seconds to turn it off if you want to avoid those annoying modes. Just a much cleaner UI.

Otherwise, it has some of the same good features as the Anker in the front page. Built-in USB micro connector for charging the 18650 battery. Really bright, multiple useful modes.

Some negatives: no zoom though, and doesn't have the customer service reputation of Anker.

Good choice. This Wowtac, a Wurkkos FC11, or a Sofirn SP32a are much, much better built and designed flashlights than an Anker.

What kind of flashlight? Flooder or thrower? Small or large? 18650 or AA/AAA? Warm light or cool light?

Are you thinking of carrying it every day for work or for outdoor camping use?

If you want a pocket carry, check out the Thrunite TC15 at nearly double the price.
If you want a soda can sized light, check out the Emisar D18 which is $99 before batteries.
If you want a thrower in a small packet, check out the Noctigon K1 which will run between $80 and $150 depending on LED format.
------------------------------------------------------------

This is a fine flashlight. Don't let the 1460+ lumen statistic be the selling point though. Keep in mind that this flashlight won't hold 1400+ lumens for longer than a minute or two tops. After that, it will throttle down to 400 lumens. Also note that doubling the lumens only leads to about 40% perceivable light increase. So don't get into a lumen battle decision over these flashlights.

The main issue with this flashlight is it's a cool white and has relatively low CRI seeing as it's a 5000k to 6500k tint. You would be better serve with a warm light 4000k tint which you would rarely find in this price range.

For this price, this would serve well as an every day pocket carry flashlight for work. Trust enthusiast will tell you to double your budget and get a better light.
Ill check that out. I just want a portable flashlight. Just doin DIY and gardening stuff i kind of routinely could venefit from one. Id prefer usb c charging. Actually I guess I could benefit from a head lamp much more. Are there any similar quality head lamps?

I just want something where you hold it and youre like "wow this is a nicely made thing' like you get from holding a quality tool

The only USB-C charging headlamp I am aware of is the Acebeam H30 which goes for around $135; so probably not what you want. You would need to drop the USB-C option and go with USB-Micro then you could get plenty of much cheaper lights like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075ZN5...B072FHXZ7G

The Wowtac headlamp I linked above is also on sale at 5% off.

You want the NW version which stands for neutral white. CW means cool white which sacrifices the color rendering index on the light for a whiter light. Most flashlight enthusiasts swear by neutral or warm lighting over cool lighting,

That is hands down the worst possible reason to not get this. Zoomables are flawed by design. Any flashlight enthusiast will tell you this. Zooming flashlights allow oil, dirt, moisture and debris to get into the flashlight lens housing. It's a flawed design which is why they show up on the cheapest crappiest flashlights.

There is maybe 2 zoomable flashlights of quality in the entire world, and you won't be seeing them for under $100 and they're not waterproof.

If you want to see something far away, you get a thrower flashlight like the noctigon K1. If you want to see an entire area light up, you get a flooder light, like the emisar D18. Wanna set something on fire from over there? Get a 90.2 LED in a K1 housing and you can cook an egg.

Not sure what flashlight you want? Go here: https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlig..._solstice/
Are there any headlamps of a similar quality?

Yeah usb c is absolutely not a requirement, just a nice to have. So this a2s is the best headlamp under $50?

Only competition for under $50 would be the Silkhunt H04 LED Headlamp. I would take the Wowtac over it due to the price difference and battery. I prefer 18650s over BL135 .

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075ZN5...B072FHXZ7G would be my suggestion in neutral white, not cool white.

Anytime mate! It's a fun hobby and has really come an amazing way in the last 5 years. The flashlights of today are amazing pieces of equipment.

Headlamp lights are so small and powerful these days that there really is no reason to not own one. It certainly would have saved my dad yelling at me about how I am not holding the flashlight right. Wink

Those are junk. Besides, 900,000LM is much too bright. The battery is dead before the click reaches your ear.

I was just giving an example of how these are overpriced. YOu have a selection from $2 to 20 on MANY brightness levels and options. Try to take the blinders off some of the itme.
