Performance wise they are fine, but there are a bunch of features missing, and they haven't released a single firmware update for this model....
Not crazy about all the missing features (VPN server, I'm looking at you), but they have updated it multiple times in the last year. As a matter of fact, I just looked and there's another update

I love this set for my Verizon Fios. Range and speed are great for me.

I just checked and boom update, thanks for the heads up. Hasn't been an update yet this year I believe until now.

Does one have to be connected to the FIOS router directly or can they all just be wifi?

I have FIOS as well and am looking for a good mesh system for our house.

What I did was plugged one into the router via ethernet and then turned off the routers wifi. Then I just setup the wifi with the decos and have had zero issues.

With gigabit speed I get around 200 mb/s speed downloads on my Xbox One X in my living room over wifi from a secondary deco. No buffering with Plex or Netflix on smart TVs with 4k content.

Wifi easily reaches inside my neighbors house across the street.

if i'm using wireless backhaul, is the performance on this much better than the m5? i upgrade my cable connection and get about 460 wired about 300+ wireless on the main node about 150 wireless on the others two nodes. i'm contemplating doing wired backhaul but before i buy cables for that wondering if this would be much better wireless performance due to the dedicated backhaul.

other than that the m5 is great.

that's the built in one that tests the speed over the routers wired connection how is it wireless running a speedtest on your phone? i get about 460 on my m5 but only over 300 wireless on my phone on the main mode about 150 wireless on the two others.

Far better coverage for my home than the Nest Mesh 2-pack I bought for $200.

thanks could you test connected to one of the other nodes? that's the thing i'm most curious about if this is any faster using wireless backhaul. i am thinking of running ethernet between my m5s and tend to think that would get me the same if not better results than buying the m9 and not running the ethernet.
