Honeywell P100 (> N95) Disposable Respirator Mask with Exhalation Valve $22 + Shipping @ Honeywell Store

Pretty pricey but in stock if you really need one for high risk environments. Many people recommend covering the Exhalation Valve with something else to reduce the spread of the virus to others.

Shipping was around $5 for me and if you keep it in your cart with your email address and wait about 30 mins they will send you a 10% off coupon code to complete your order.

What a joke, $30 for a single disposable mask when the half face silicone 3m respirators with cartridges were going for $9 a few months ago.

Possibly but it's NIOSH approved to filter at a higher percentage than the N95 so let's see what happens...I like to live on the edge (with a mask) lol

you do realize that using a vented mask defeats the whole purpose of wearing a mask to protect others from your possibly infected exhaust right?

in a real P100 cartridge based it filters both ways, this one does not

Yes but this will help protect the wearer and others if they cover the exhalation valve as stated in the OP.

Since you wear a mask to protect others from your germs.. And this has a vent in it, defeating the purpose of a mask in the first place... Your solution is to put a mask on your mask?

Correct... I've seen numerous health care workers with the N95 vented with a surgical mask on top to prevent germs from escaping. I'm curious how much air comes out of the exhalation valve of any of these masks compared to the top and sides of the cloth and paper masks most people are using. I'm not a specialist in any of this but just thinking out loud.

Please do not buy these thinking you are doing your part for wearing a mask due to COVID-19. You're just harming the people that actually do need these for their jobs, such as painters or people working in hazardous environments.

The exhalation valve defeats most of the reason for wearing this mask due to COVID, and putting a "cover" over the valve is stupid. What are you going to cover it with? Cloth? Then you might as well just wear a cloth mask. These are not easy to breath through either, even with the exhalation valve, they're not meant for extended use. The people wearing these masks are typically in excellent shape, or they only wear them for a few minutes at a time.

If you want high filtration for exhalation and inhalation, then stick with N95 or surgical masks. Let the people who actually need P100 masks buy them, rather than driving the prices up for them needlessly. Without being shown how to fit these masks properly, there's a good chance people buying these P100 masks won't fit them properly either, and that's just a complete waste...

When I was fitted with a mask years ago at a hospital, it took several attempts using different sized masks, to find the one that fit properly and had an adequate seal.
