Masterbuilt isn't known for their quality, at least on their electric smokers. I'd be weary of buying any of their products.

If you are going to spend $400 then just order the Rec Tec Bullseye for $399. Free shipping to your home, PID controller, and the first class customer service Rec Tec is known for. You can smoke, grill etc with it as the temp range is 200-750 degrees. We love ours.

That Rec Tec Bullseye is really nice!

I really posted this as I haven't seen anything of this size at that low of a price... Yeah, I know you get what you pay for. laugh out loud

My familiarity with pellet grills is pretty limited and I appreciate the input. Heck, I'm still smoking most weekends on my Weber 22" kettle and am leaning toward an offset charcoal/wood smoker over going pellet.

While rex tecs are nice no pellet grill is getting 700. The biggest problem with them is that you really can't sear in them and if you can even get to 500 they take a long time. That being said, i would get almost any smoker over a masterbuilt

No, just a basic controller with 10 settings to choose from.

Incorrect. I have one, as does my friend, and we have both hit 750 degrees. Take a look at their website. The bullseye is a direct heat pellet grill that looks more like a kettle than these offset pellet grills.

I have also hit over 600 degrees with my Rec Tec Bull which is a much larger barrel style pellet smoker. Temp issues are common with Pit Boss, Traeger, etc. Consistent temperatures, and high temperatures, are no issue for Rec Tec grills.

Check out https://www.rectecgrills.com/grills for their offerings. The Bullseye mentioned previously is about the same size of 22" Weber kettle charcoal grill with 380 sq in of cooking area

I posted the Masterbuilt mostly because of it's cooking area. I hadn't seen a pellet grill of this size (almost 1000 sq in) at that low of a price. Then again, given the reviews here on Masterbuilt, you get what you pay for. Wink

Ahhh it's not a smoker, more like a charcoal grill but with pellets? Didn't know they made that. Do you get good smoke flavor?

Lack of reviews makes me skeptical.

It's both. It is 100% wood pellet fueled. It will smoke at the lower temperatures like 225-275 and grill at the higher temperatures. It looks similar to the kettle from the outside but that's about the only similarity.

An auger feeds the pellets into a fire pot in the middle of the smoker. There is a heat deflector plate that is between the fire pot and the grates. At the higher temps the flames will come around the deflector and give you those good char marks. It is hard to describe on text. Take a look at some of their videos. The newest model was just released last week and sold out in 29 minutes. They have more coming back in stock around June 15th with a steady supply at that point.

Never again, masterbuilt, never again... undersize (read fire size) wiring, crappy insulation, inaccurate temps, fire box was wayyyy to small.... good luck to whomever purchases anything masterbuilt
