Whats the benefit of these ball and chain vacs over an upright? Good for dog hair. I have a V8 stick vac but it gets clogged all the time with dog hair and its super annoying.

I have owned this. It's very heavy but can be kicked or knocked over and it will always right itself. It's crazy powerful so if you don't Mind level 11 suction probably removing some of your older carpets pile it's awesome. It's the single most powerful vacuum I've ever used but with all that power it's hard to push the wand in any direction. The long wand where it attaches at the handle together always felt kinda cheap and the handle somewhat uncomfortable in my hand. It's an amazing vacuum though so if you want warp 11 power get this. It's got a great cord winder that sucks the cord back into the ball with great power too. Because of it's weight I opted to return it for a V7 Animal plus from Sams for 269. Way less power like 10 times less power but it's light and for what I need it for it's good to near perfect. 269 for a V7 animal plus is in no way a slick deal. I'm not stating that but I needed a vacuum.

I have a different variant of this vacuum, the non-Cinetic Multifloor Pro from Macy's, and it's probably my favorite vacuum. We also own a V8 Absolute for the home and a V8 Animal for the office. The sticks are nice for convenience but they obviously don't have as much suction. Also, the fluffy head for hardwood floors is all we use and it misses dog hair all the time. The floor just doesn't feel as clean as when I use the hardwood head on the Dyson Multifloor.

The only downside for a non-stick vacuum is having to plug and unplug as you move about the house. We have a large house and even with the cord stretched to the max, I still need to plug and unplug from four different outlets. And that's just on the first floor.

I don't know the tech behind the Cinetic but it's obviously much more powerful than the regular canisters from Dyson. I'm not sure if the canister is bigger, or something, but even with dog hair and dander and other stuff from our hardwood floors, our Big Ball canister can go about a week of daily use before the debris fills up to the Max line.

At $300, this seems like a great deal. I got my non-Cinetic from Macy's last summer for their "Black Friday in July" sale. It was $199 but I paid about $160 after use of a GC and CB (I think it was a 15% CB offer). If I had a need for another canister somewhere else, $300 seems like a sweet deal because the Cinetics are supposed to have more suction and I think there's no need to wash the filter. Verify that before purchasing, I am not sure about the filter.

Edit: There is no filter to begin with.

Is the head motorized? It doesn't look like. If not, do you think it's powerful as an upright vacuum?

I believe I bought this vacuum from Amazon for $150 (might have been refurbished) a few months ago

It doesn't have a motorized head. I don't believe any of Dyson canister vacs sold in the US have motorized heads. This is probably best for tile and hardwood floors.

Always check and double check what you read. sorry, but one click and right in the details:
Self-adjusting cleaner head with a powerful motorized brush bar.

What is the difference between this one and the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Total Clean Upright Vacuum (https://slickdeals.net/f/14097536-save-250-on-dyson-cinetic-big-ball-total-clean-upright-vacuum-free-shipping-249-99 or https://slickdeals.net/f/14079137-dyson-cinetic-big-ball-vacuum-255) here?

Thanks very much.

Good deal. I noticed on Dyson's website they're giving away free tools up to $100 if you purchase directly from Dyson. Since the google store is selling direct from Dyson I wonder if they'll honor the same promotion from "Dyson.com". I sent an email to Dyson since their chat's broken.

I have this exact model and it works very well. Purchased two years ago and any problems I've had Dyson's customer service has taken care of free of charge due to a five year warranty. My only gripe is if you have very thick, pilly type carpet than you'd want something stronger like a Kirby, Rainbow, or Miele.

It doesn't look like there is cable going through the hose. Could someone who owns this vacuum confirm the motorized head please?

Dyson makes statistics show at the hose entry point it's pulling near 300 air watts of power. For sure it's the equal to any upright. I'd put it toe to toe with any. This will meet Iran's exceed it when you see it work. The brush in the one I tried did have a roller that spun in the head with all that power spun it without issue.

It's a motorised cable hole on the ball. It allows you to pull it out and lock length then a larger tug will activate the "return" mode that pulls the cable into the body. It's very durable just on how it felt
