Clients that support 800 Mbps (2.4 GHz) or 1732 Mbps (5 Ghz) are pretty much nonexistant. To most people, it'll be same as an AC1750 router.
No, according to D-Link (1 star respond on amz)

We appreciate the feedback and want to apologize for the issues you have encountered with our router. For a mesh network, you need to buy mesh extenders (DAP-1620-US or DAP-1820-EXO), not 2 routers. This router does not support extender or access point modes. The user manual can be downloaded at https://support.dlink.com/DIR-3060-US for instructions (starting at page 136). You may also want to look at the COVR-2202 or COVR-1203 for D-Link mesh systems. For any questions or issues please contact technical support at 1-877-453-5465.

I was going to buy two too but this stops me.

Wow cheap price but I'm wary of D-Link routers. Had two older models and they both had too many dropped connections.

The higher speeds provide a faster backbone for a mesh setup.
