Bought V8 refurb listed here while back for $170. It arrived very late. Dented, scratched, filthy dirty and dusty. They refused to have it picked up, so had to take it to UPS.

Took another month to finally get a refund.

Are you sure it was shipped from Dyson direct? I've always been lucky ordering refurb's direct from the manufacturer. Often times they're store displays, demo's, returns that were never used, etc. Until you get into network equipment, FPGAs, basically ridiculously expensive electronic and electrical equipment, it almost never pays for a manufacturer to take something returned in horrible condition and try to actually refurbish it and resell. More profitable to claim it as a net loss and deduct its expense from year end profit.

Not only was it Dyson, but they were obnoxious about taking it back. No replacement only refund, no pickup only UPS store, they wanted photos, and finally wouldn't issue refund until they received it, and only after numerous emails asking where the refund was did it finally get refunded. Nightmare.

Search the other past deals here you will see others with similar condition units.

I bought a DC33 so we'll see but yeah at that point, that's where I just file a dispute with my CC issuer and let them handle it. If the seller wants their product back, let them figure it out.

All 3 look really good, aside from the negative experience. With such a small price difference between each one, would anyone with experience with these recommend one over the other? And why? Never owned a Dyson

I also found the DC33 and Light Ball refurbs at Walmart for $10 more, but you have the option to get the protection plan. Says sold by Dyson:

I've had similar issues with their customer service (at least on the return end). Seriously unacceptable

I've bought a couple refurbs from Dyson eBay over the years and no issues here... sounds like it's hit or miss

I don't have any experience with Dyson, but I'd love to grab one of these for my mom. Is the V8 Animal an ok choice if she only has pets over from my sister and occasional visitors? She has hardwood upstairs, with carpet in the bedrooms and downstairs. I understand it doesn't come with a hardwood roller, are you able to buy these separately? I found a lot of conflicting info when I Googled the issue.

Is there a reason to go or not go cordless over the other ones? I thought cordless would be super handy for her but if it's not as great as the giant ones I'd rather grab her one of those. Thanks!

Bought from the Dyson store on eBay before. Part of the decision was advertising free returns (with a picture of a truck next to it!). I didn't like the new Dyson compared to my old Dyson, so decided to return it. They claimed free returns meant they don't charge a restocking fee and I was responsible for the $100 shipping charge to get it back to them. Fortunately eBay sided with me and they sent a prepaid label eventually. Check their feedback history- buyer beware!

Dyson products have poor reliability.
Most refurbs are broken customers products

And it will breakdown again, and you may not even have warranty with refurbb

Yes, they do look very good.
