Home Depot has the Ryobi pole saw kit on sale for $99 with free shipping as part of their Ryobi Days sale. I've been watching this for a bit as it has been $139 for the last few weeks.

Free shipping and store pick up is available.

I've had one of these for several years (haven't used it in about a year now). It worked pretty good when I first got it, but there were a few things that I didn't like. I'm not sure of the battery issues I see in alot of the 1 star reviews as I got the tool only and used my existing 4mah batteries.

The chain cover screw seems to have stripped. I'm not sure how the inside housing is made, but I can tighten the cover on slightly, but not what I would consider tight. About a year ago, as I was cutting some branches the screw came loose and everything flew off (the chain cover, screw and chain itself). I couldn't even find the chain afterwards lol, which is why I haven't used it since. I've thought about just buying a new chain, but not sure it's worth it knowing the chain cover screw assembly housing doesn't seem to hold a tight fit. To me, this is the biggest issue with this saw.
Leaks oil when not in use, so make sure you drain any unused chain oil if you're not going to be using it. Seems this part could be designed better.
The connections between the different pole parts can come loose.

This bundle or even the tool only one doesn't count for the 4.0A battery deal?

I have the Sun Joe version of this which sucks. I think if I get another chainsaw I'll get the real one that's 40v.

Ditto. Had previously purchased the SunJoe telescoping electric pole saw. This one is better for our needs, so will return the other (still unused, LOL). Thanks, OP, and repped!

Pole only is best for me, already have 6 x 4AH batteries and 6-port charger.

Would this work well for trimming the top of a 12ft Holley tree where we have trouble getting to the center of the canopy even on a ladder? Essentially I need a pole hedge trimmer but have never seen that product. So I guess the question is would you use this on a ladder??
