This seems like a good deal for $500, but I tried out an HP Pavilion from this line and the fan was terrible. Truly awful. Like, I'd watch a YouTube video and it would sound like an ancient refrigerator. It wasn't a x360 though, not sure if these have a different cooling system.

One of the reviews says;

Cons: The laptop overheats fairly quick and the fan makes a loud whistling noise. Screen blacked out on me on and off for about 2 minutes the second day after I purchased this laptop. Due to that issue I plan on returning the laptop.

Seems to be especially true of this model based upon the worthless support of the HP team.

From the Q/A section - answered by the HP team

A:Answer The HP Pavilion x360 Laptop- 14m-dw0023dx is listed as having nonupgradeable onboard system memory.
Answered 1 week ago by HP Team

A:Answer This laptop has 2 slots for RAM modules. The modules are removable. There is 1ea. 8 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) installed. You can add another one for a total of 16GB.
Answered 3 days ago by HP Team

A:Answer You can upgrade to a maximum of 32GB of RAM.
Answered 2 weeks ago by HP Team

I even spoke with a HP support team this morning through their support chat.
After 30 minutes of going back and forth - the final answer was that they could not give me specifics of the laptop with me providing a serial number.

Good find. THe only HP laptop I've used so far that has been extremely quiet has been their Envy line (HP Envy 13'' from the Microsoft deal back in November).

I almost feel like I'd be better off just buying a 2015 Mac Book pro on craigslist for the same price lmao.
I have a 2014 MacBook Pro I have been using since it was released and its been great all these years lol. All these laptops I have been looking have so many complaints with problems. Oh course I have been looking at a mid budget laptop capable of running some games.

Under questions it says max RAM is 32GB. Only way that could be is if it comes with 2 slots, both accessible (not soldered). If that's true then that's a huge upside compared to almost every other laptop available right now.

How does this compare to this expired Lenovo deal from OfficeDepot ?

The Lenovo deal is now YMMV for store pickup.

Agreed and once you start getting higher than $500 on a PC you might as well just buy the mac for $1,000 and take really good care of it so it will last twice as long as the $1,000 PC.

There are some much safer bets. Lenovo Yoga or Thinkpad lines both have excellent build quality and very good reliability.
