Did you set the sound output on the tv to be hdmi-arc? If that doesn't work you may have to use the digital optical output of the TV to the sound bar.
Yes.. I did that.. so the hdmi arc of the tv is connected to hdmi of roku... so the audio from Roku alone feeds to the sound bar and not from Cable TV.. Now I am also using the optical cable to get the audio from other souces apart from Roku.. practically using both hdmi and optical cable now !! Don't use if that would cause any audio issues !!

The Vizio smartcast app is an absolute piece if garbage. What a nightmare getting this soundbar setup, wasted my entire Saturday evening. Vizio customer service was completely unhelpful and wanted to make a warranty claim after we couldn't get the firmware to update. I refused and said if I can't pair this to my phone today, I will return to Costco and that's what I ended up doing.

I did eventually get the firmware updated but simply couldn't get it to pair with my Android phone. I eventually got it to pair on wife's iPhone and for what it's worth, the actual soundbar, speakers, and subwoofer were fantastic. A great update over typical TV speakers. After about an hour, the app on the iPhone lost connectivity. That's when I packed everything back up. Such a shame, the hardware is great but the app is complete trash.

HDMI ARC output of the TV goes to the HDMI OUT (ARC) (top port) of the sound bar. The roku goes to HDMI IN (bottom port) of the sound bar. Set the audio output of the TV to ARC and don't use the optical cable. All other devices should be connected to the TV.

I seem to be having trouble streaming Atmos.

Had my 2nd generation Chromecast streaming Netflix UHD and Disney+ but couldn't get the green LED to light up. Chromecast was connected to the ARC port on my TV, but switched it over to plug directly into soundbar with no luck either. TV is a Sony LCD from 2013.

Currently have a Firestick 4k plugged into the ARC port on TV as well, but still no luck getting the green LED watching Marvel movies on Disney+. Anybody having luck getting Atmos?

The Firestick can only pull Atmos from Prime Video. Try playing Jack Ryan and see if it comes on. Also, follow the advice nm3th posted above in terms of how to connect it all (substitute Firestick where he wrote Roku).

So I ordered this after having a good experience (despite other people not) with Vizio SB36512...The 36514 were horribly buggy. Constantly cutting in and out. They actually did sound much better than the 36512s, and I'm very sorry that they have to be returned.

How did you have things connected? If your source is plugged into the TV (or you're playing TV apps through ARC channel) you might get sound cutting out.

no, I have my Shield TV connected to the HDMI in on the soundbar, and ARC to TV.

Same way I've had my old Vizio SB36512 with no issues. Using Shield to TV then TV to Soundbar wont work. ARC wont run DTS-MA/Dolby THD...

This was a great soundbar when it worked. Unfortunately it would never detect audio and I had to unplug and replug the unit in order to get sound. After an hour With Vizio support they had me send it back.

Now I just got a call telling me that they have no inventory available so they cannot replace it. They are going to refund my purchase price after I send them a receipt.

So fair warning - if you have to send it in for warranty you won't be getting one back.

Yeah that's the benefit of buying from Costco... You can just return it.

BTW I also returned mine. I had to use my TV remote for the sound to switch to the soundbar. The soundbar also randomly shuts off on its own even with Eco mode turned off.

I love the sound. it doesn't knock me over, but that's ok.

I am using optical input, because my tv can't do atmos.

it's slow connecting to google home/audio streaming, and it will not connect my home as a part of a group. has anyone else had this problem>?

I play music and podcasts on it, and the only way i can get it to play with my other connected house speakers is by plugging in my one and only google chromecast audio. I feel like I should be able to add it to a group and have it work. can anyone help?

i was considering the new polk s3 (link above) -- do you think it might work better?

I posted this earlier in the thread but definitely try this reset. Prior to doing this, I had many issues with casting and getting the app to connect. Now I can cast to this as part of a group with no issues.

Vizio sub sucks lol. It's levels seem all off depending on what you're watching.

If anything, the sub is bass heavy. I had to turn it down to -3 sometimes down to -5
