Um, that's the whole point of his question: why go with a battery option like this one instead of an inverter gen?

For some, the idea of a completely silent, non-polluting source of power make sense, even if a lot of inverter generators are relatively quiet. Maybe they want zero noise, zero fumes or need power where an inverter gen might not be safe, like on a boat. Other people who might opt for this over a gasoline powered alternative have a source of recharging power they want to utilize, like solar panels or an RV's alternator while driving during the day.

No saying I disagree with the thrust of hosser's question: you can get a decent inverter gen for around $400-500 that offers a lot more capability. To me, portable power stations make the most sense when they're the smaller and lighter weight models that are used for specific tasks like running a CPAP machine in a small tent.

It doesn't kill you if you run it inside, no gas to store, no noise, can supplement a generator too by giving you stored power for when generator isn't running.

This is only 1000 watts? Jesus Christ. To give anyone some perspective im. Building a 1kw system for less than $150. Obviously you need specialty tools and you may burn your house down but that doesn't make it worth over 5x. Heck I can even throw in a solar a panel or two and triple the capacity for this price!
I call BS. What batteries are you using that offer a usable 1000 WH for 150 bucks (not to mention that this is lithium so you can deep discharge unlike lead acid or AGM), let alone a 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter and an MPPT charger controller that this all has built in? You don't.....

Price lie! I'm being charged sales tax, can't replicate price deal.

Did you try both just jackery.com and amazon.com? When I added it to my cart in Amazon.com I never had tax show up.

I also call BS. Unless he's buying used 18650 batteries, you can never get it that low. A new pure sinewave inverter is nearly $100

I just got a wen inverter generator for $450, 4000/3500w which can power a whole rv. Thing is really small, portable, and takes just a minute to refill with gas when it runs out (instead of hours by electric). For how much these are posted on slickdeals, I really think they are far more of a niche item. Agree with those on a boat, or in an enclosed environment where only this will do. Otherwise, get a gas generator.
