I like Cormac okay except that he's not a big fan of basic punctuation or, to quote my dad, he just has a style that challenges the reader to rise to his exceptional lack of respect for us.
Great post Apocalyptic book
Disagree with what? Note that I quoted my dad without quotation marks and my criticism was that I like Cormac okay. It was more a joke about his difficult style (particularly the refusal to use quotation marks) than dislike for his books.

But since you brought it up, critically Cormac tells a pretty good story, and is savvy enough to have found a marketing device that stands him out. I don't find him to really push any artistic bounds though, certainly not in the way authors like Jennifer Egan do.

Agree, but not sure I would recommend reading it during these times right now.

Excellent book which falls between No Country for Old Men and A Blood Meridian on the 'Ferocious Writing' scale with Blood Meridian being an "11". If you haven't read McCarthy before, his style takes a little getting used to but once ingested, it makes for quite the reading experience.

A big YMMV to you (I think he's fantastic) but for $2. you can't lose too much, especially if you haven't read him before and are open to something of quality in the post nuclear genre..

On the road again -
That was a reference to Cormac McCarthy
Thirty-three, still singing "F the Police"
While the mark of the beast
Surrounds me through targeted marketing
Awfully ominous, aren't we?
I'ma be honest with all of these zombies
Making a mockery out of humanity
Thinking that a meme is a revolutionary strategy
Please try to dream
Bigger than a five inch screen

The Good Earth by Pearl Buck is pretty good, Pulitzer Prize winner for 3.99 , and has some sequels if you want to keep going.

Great book. The film left too much out. Great look at post-apocalyptic society that doesn't involve zombies or authoritarian government.

I disagree. Art doesn't have to follow the rules.
