Bought this set. Unimpressed with drill, doesn't last even on largest battery in the kit.

The drill is definitely the weak point of the M12 fuel line. Works for my uses though.

Curious? What was your use case? I used this drill on a wood stump to prep for de-stumping. I drilled at least 50 holes on a 3/8 bit (3in length) on wet birch and still had a ton of battery on the included 4ah.

Also curious. I keep this set at home and it's been very good. Granted, I've spent a lot more time with the impact than the drill. I did however make a desk for my wife a few years back and decided to use a pocket hole jig that was given to me as a present. I used the drill for all the drilling and fastening with a 4 amp hour battery and it lasted the whole project and still showing 1/2 charge remaining(even joining boards, used biscuits for the main surface). The fact that desk was made out of pine may have helped though.
Not sure if links are allowed (imgur link to the desk)

Maybe the quality of the tools have changed since I bought mine ~3-4 years ago?

I have this set and picked up this deal with the 6ah battery vs the ratchet. 3 batteries (2,4 & 6) and the impact make it a solid deal and the hammer and bag were a kicker in my mind. this hammer could not be relied on as your only hammer drill IF you need to drive alot of anchors into concrete. for most DIYers though, having a beefier hammer drill is unnecessary. I use the drill for pilot holes and drive with the impact. the M12 fuel impact driver is my favorite drill including my M18 gen 3 fuel impact. due to its form factor/power combination, i think its the best 12V in the market.

Anyone know if the M12 Fuel Combo (either with the battery or ratchet) has ever gone below $199? I'm thinking of picking up the combo with the battery + the 1/2" stubby impact wrench.

the drill uses a electronic clutch and at the lower clutch settings does a weird ramp up to speed thing. no feedback from the clutch - once it hits the torque setting it just stops spinning. i'll take a mechanical clutch over this any day

Interesting, is that something that was introduced on a particular revision? I'm not exactly sure what gen mine is but I don't think it operates the same way.

Got this deal last month and was able to flip the ratchet for $100, so I got the base set for $100.
