60hz panel, probably will be a deal breaker for some but still a decent deal if you don't play competitive FPS games.

48Wr battery and 60hz panel. Apparently the cooling is also lackluster. There is only one 8gb ram stick, so it's not dual channel. Otherwise, specs are good

This is a gimped version of the $1200 model that's still rare to find. That $300 goes a long way in this case. Don't buy this version.

I'm not going to game at all, but I do need a workhorse that can handle large data sets in STATA and R, as well as be able to handle 30 or so chrome tabs open.
Wouldn't this be a good fit? Or is there better option out there in terms of specs and build quality. I was told this trumps laptops like the ideapad 3 and 4 deals in terms of build quality.

If you're not going to game you could get something like the Lenovo Flex 14 for $600 that should be plenty powerful for your needs.

Looking at around $1200 for 120hz and 90wh battery... Worth $300 extra.. ?not really, but gamers if they are already going near $1k budget wise will fall for the upgrades...

1650 is well behind this GPU. The 2060 is basically a GTX1070M and 1650 is a little behind 1060M.

Guess not worth the 30% increase in price

Gets hot or overheats? To different things functionally

Edit: answered my own question. Just a bad thermal design all the way around. Thanks for the link darthsau
