I wonder if this will make the existing DS218+ go down in price... perhaps $199? Smilie

Thanks, I actually just cancelled my BH order and repurchased on Amazon. I love BH, but saving money and faster shipping going to win every time. I appreciate the heads up!

Ya man, no worries!

I actually wanted the DS420+ but the price is way too close to the DS920+ to not jump up.

I really thought the DS420+ would of come in around $400 - $450 USD. $500 seems steep while $550 for the DS920+ seems very reasonable.

I was also thinking the same thing but $50 for two more cores and 2GB more of RAM was a no brainer for me.

Honestly if a good deal had showed up for the DS-918+ in the last month or so I probably would have jumped on that but now that this is out I'll just get it. Seems like they rarely go on sale anyways.

Great! I wonder how much of a performance increase these have versus the previous generation. Thinking about getting the 920+.

Breakdown of model name to help those who're contemplating on which one to buy:-
Name: Synology DS-920+
Synology:
Obviously the brand name
DS: Diskstation (usually for desktop/home use). Like RS is for Rackstation
9: Max hard drive support for storage (including expansion units)
20: Year of release
+: Intel (or rather x86 processors) - important for hardware transcoding

It's cheaper to by from B and H when you factor taxes in.

Damn had the DS920+ in my cart on Amazon while I was deciding if the extra $50 was worth it over the DS420+ and when I finally checked out it says it is no longer available.
