I have one. Its super cheap and the plastic inside the handle that holds the blade is garbage. Hard pass

Seems like recent reviews are pretty bad, especially the case and plastic tray holders.

Some of the review are pretty bad. Xacto knives and blades were made in the USA, but after reading some of the review, I'm wondering if this is another case of a high quality USA brand farming out manufacturing to a low cost Asian factory. Didn't see any specific mention of it in the Amazon comments. Does anyone know?

Also, I saw this in the description, which raised an eyebrow:
Quote :
  • A complete set for virtually every woodworking requirement
  • High quality woodworking tools for the hardcore woodworker
  • Set includes a no. 5 knife handle, 6 assorted blades, 5 gouges and 4 routers
  • Comes with a wooden chest
  • This is an aftermarket of generic part
  • A complete set for virtually every woodworking requirement
  • High quality woodworking tools for the hardcore woodworker
Now, what does that mean - this is an aftermarket of generic part?

EDIT -- I'd love to know how I got 4 down votes for that question. What, do some SD members prefer that USA made tools move to China, is that the reason for the 4 down votes? Still didn't see an answer to the question though, is this still made in the USA?

hmmm, not quite. even if you filter the reviews for the deluxe woodworking set, the reviews aren't great.

Saw the aftermarket comment also and figured it was just a knockoff. Cheaper quality product.

I think the intention is to carve your own holder and case.

If it's the case that puts you off, change the set to the basic set with soft case. On sale for $20.93. Lowe's sells for $32.99.

High quality US brand charge at least 10x money though.

While it seems cool... case and all.

I feel this would be the one that I would by... I really feel the pencil feel is the way to go.
