Dear Slickdeals community,

We hear you and have also heard your concerns regarding incomplete orders of toner cartridges in connection with the purchase of certain refurbished imageCLASS printers made between 6/16/20 and 6/24/20. We regret any confusion with respect to this purchase. This promotion was very popular and exceeded our expectations and as a result, we have temporarily exhausted our toner cartridge supply, and so we are working hard to complete order delivery as fast as possible. Weare currently finalizing estimated shipping dates.

Everyone who made an eligible purchase will be receiving an email in the near future with more detail, but rest assured that those who made eligible purchases will receive two sets of color toner including cyan, magenta, yellow and black (for eligible color printer purchases) and two black toner cartridges (for eligible black and white printer purchases).

We appreciate your patience and your patronage, please know that we are doing everything we can to rectify the situation as expediently as possible.

Thank you,

The Canon Team

Overpriced and not a good deal, even with a free toner.

The extra two-year warranty and original standard toner is a pretty good deal.

Also, I don't know if the newer models take generic toner (which makes that a not good deal).

644 is also duplex scanning, also 1 pass 2 side scanning too. I think 743 is little faster n has more paper capacity.
I was going to pull the trigger on the 644 but then I noticed that the toner cartridges are different.

The 644 uses Canon 054:
Canon Genuine Toner 054 CMYK: CMY: 1,200 pgs, K: 1,500 pgs & Toner 054 High Capacity: CMY: 2,300 pgs, K: 3,100 pgs.

The 743 uses Canon 055
Canon Genuine Toner 055 CMYK: CMY: 2,100 pgs, K: 2,300 pgs & Toner 055 High Capacity: CMY: 5,900 pgs, K: 7,600 pgs.

Normally wouldn't matter much because the 054 carts are cheaper. But in the context of this deal, the bonus 055 cartridges that come with the 743 are worth more than the bonus 054 cartridges that come with the 644. Like $100 more when comparing a set of 4 on Amazon.

But of course that's for genuine Canon cartridges, and this being SD people will likely be buying generic toner anyway. But just wanted to point out for folks that you are getting quite a bit more value for the $38 more that the 743 costs in this particular deal.

I saw the same thing and pulled the trigger on the 743. Also supports NFC. Small but nice bonus.

A set of generic toner is twice as much. Generic 054 ~ $60 while generic 055 ~$110. But if the generic truly has twice the capacity with the 055 then it wouldn't matter.

Anyone have experience with a Refurb from Canon?
Interested in the MF644Cdw
The MF644Cdw is $320 at most places and weighs 50lbs FYI
I bought a refurb inkjet printer several years ago. Overall, it is good. There is a bad spot on LCD and I think it may be the reason for refurb.

Nice catch, I didn't even think of it that way. But that first time I want some generic toner, I'm going to lose that $40 on the more expensive toner unless they put more in the generics too. But I'm concerned about them locking me out of those chipped cartridges and not being able to use generic. It's bigger and heavier too, I don't need a higher workload or the extra printing trays.

I'm more talking it out to myself here...

Just checked out the 644. Free toners are displayed in the shopping cart as separate products. I assume the printer will come with both started toners and free one.

I bought a Refurb Canon 70D DSLR about five years ago, still going strong. So I would not hesitate buying a Refurb from canon.

I've had a Canon color laser for about three years and it's outstanding. Very solid operation — always works, the iPhone always finds it on the network and prints, the windows and Macintoshes work well with it. Way better than the HP it replaced.

I took a look at generic toner reviews on amazon for the MF644Cdw and I don't see any reviews complaining about locking out for non canon branded replacements.

I was gonna pull the trigger on the MF644Cdw but then noticed the really poor reviews (an average of 3.2 stars out of 32 reviews) on this model. The reviews noted different issues with this model. Link to reviews on the Canon website: https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/e...er-printer. I am not sure how other models are reviewed, but it's worth to look into it before buying.

One other advantage of the 743 over the 644 is it has a true manual feed paper tray where you can put a stack of paper/labels/envelopes etc.

The 644 has a bypass slot which only can do one sheet/envelope at a time.

May not matter for some folks but will for others.
